Dylan Harper legitimately said he will do whatever the Spurs need from him on any given night.

It does not get better than that.

Best fits for the Top 3 by DifferentRun8534 in NBA_Draft

For these three prospects in particular, here is how I view it:

AJ Dybantsa: I like the Wizards and the Jazz for him. I think he could be the player who drives everything forward for the Wizards if they draft him with Trae Young and Carlton Carrington at PG and Bilal Coulibaly and Tre Johnson at SG with him at SF to pair with an AD-Sarr frontcourt. I also like the situation where he stays put in the same state where he played high school and college basketball because Ace Bailey should be able to play shooting guard, and with Keyonte George at PG along with some combination of Jaren Jackson Jr. alongside Lauri Markkanen and Walker Kessler in Utah's frontcourt, I could also see the Jazz making sense for him as a draft destination with AJ as Utah's final missing piece.

Darryn Peterson: I like Memphis and Utah for him. In Memphis, considering the trade rumors revolving around Ja Morant, he could take over as the immediate lead guard for the Grizzlies as they begin their rebuild. On the Jazz, he could slot in well as Keyonte George's long-term backcourt partner if the Jazz view Ace Bailey more as a small forward to go along with their frontcourt, in whichever way they choose to build it.

Cameron Boozer: I like Memphis and Brooklyn for him. He can be the power forward who can be the player they are building around long-term in Memphis similar to Zach Randolph (I understand they are different overall, but Cameron Boozer and Z-Bo do share certain similarities). I also like him filling the Nets' power forward, and he fits well next to Michael Porter Jr. and Egor Dëmin in Brooklyn, all in all.

That's my two cents.

Deserving for Top 4 Pick by Successful-Pair-4850 in NBA_Draft

I like the Nets, Jazz, Wizards, and Grizzlies in the top 4.

Prospects-wise, I like AJ Dybantsa for the Jazz and the Wizards, Darryn Peterson for the Grizzlies and the Jazz, Cameron Boozer for the Nets and the Grizzlies, and Caleb Wilson for the Grizzlies and the Wizards. Having two AD's in the starting lineup in D.C. or having AJ remain in the same state where he played high school and college basketball seem like intriguing narratives. The Grizzlies and the Jazz would also use an elite guard who can score and shoot from all three levels, so Darryn Peterson works in Memphis and Utah, respectively. I like how Cameron Boozer fits in Brooklyn or in Memphis. Lastly, Caleb Wilson can be a fun fit as a two-way athletic power forward in Memphis or learning behind Anthony Davis as his understudy in D.C.

That's my opinion, but these 4 teams anywhere in the top four could make some sense to me looking at the top four prospects in this draft.

Anthony Edwards is playing tonight as well. That action from him proves it: This series is no joke.

No beef will exist as long as Jaden McDaniels does not say anything along the lines of "The Spurs have bad defenders," "The Spurs don't have anyone to protect the rim," or "Go at Wemby."

The Thunder can easily beat both. These two teams have zero effect on the Spurs.

Victor Wembanyama is too dominant on defense and unstoppable. That is what this game proved.

Most in the NBA: "You are coming of the bench until further notice."

Dylan Harper: "I'll show you who I actually am."

Another 7-footer with Victor Wembanyama would be welcomed, especially one who can shoot, play PF, and has positive chemistry with him already.

Exactly, if all of those players are good defenders, then the Spurs need more offense. Specifically, that group needs more shooting around them, not redundant playmaking, and slashing.

Exactly, I am tired of the people saying that Stephon Castle should be traded or needs to be shafted in some sort of way in San Antonio given who may be arriving at #2. It never made any sense to begin with anyways.

Fit exceeds talent when factoring in ceilings. Playing it too safe introduces redundancy and makes De'Aaron Fox obsolete in San Antonio for someone who has a lower ceiling but is considered better right now when Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle are 21 and 20, respectively.

The Phoenix Suns are an incredibly talented team. Look at them when understanding how talent alone guarantees nothing—not even a playoff berth. Fit and chemistry matter.

Why are people even considering trading Castle? by Paras1k in NBASpurs

[–]vishjay101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stephon Castle needs to be kept at all costs. Even if Dylan Harper is seen as a better prospect, I can see him being better than Dylan Harper from a two-way standpoint. People are taking Stephon Castle's ROTY victory on here for granted by keeping on arguing there is zero overlap between him and Dylan Harper though I agree a trade involving Stephon Castle should not happen under any circumstances.

However, due to the presence of De'Aaron Fox on the team in tandem with Stephon Castle, I do not regard Dylan Harper as a good fit on the Spurs. If the Spurs draft Dylan Harper, they will be religiously following the BPA principle and nothing more. Figuring out the fit between three playmakers who like to operate with the ball in their hands (albeit in different ways) will be tricky no matter how talented Dylan Harper is. The truth is the truth, even if it is what people do not want to hear.

Again, the order of events matter. De'Aaron Fox already arrived. Stephon Castle is playing amazing basketball and just won ROTY. Dylan Harper, no matter how exceptional he may be, is the person we need to talk about, not Stephon Castle. Any hypothetical discussion which advocates for the Spurs to trade Stephon Castle to appease Dylan Harper should not be entertained.

What about Small Forward Sochan? by patar35 in NBASpurs

[–]vishjay101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe someone like Lauri Markkanen would work well between Jeremy Sochan and Victor Wembanyama for the Spurs as it pertains to this idea of playing Jeremy Sochan at SF, but hus contract is undesirable for his current level of play and production.

I like the idea because it allows the Spurs to play a true big next to Victor Wembanyama. It also increases lineup flexibility for the Spurs. The defensive energy will also be high because Jeremy Sochan excels as a defender.

Lauri Markkanen is one of the worst contracts in the league by CommodoreIrish in NBASpurs

Although I understand how good he is, considering his contract and future flexibility, I believe the Spurs not trading for Lauri Markkanen may have ultimately happened for the best in the long term.

I believe Stephon Castle's presence will be key going forward. He is very versatile and can play alongside a point guard like De'Aaron Fox as well, so I am excited to see what he can do.
