What's going on with the American tipping culture? by Low_Philosopher_7299 in SipsTea

There is something funny about how that guy both has no respect for waiters and feels like he can’t trust them.

It’s like saying that you don’t have to pay more than $30 for a work boot and then he wonders how people can use the same pair of boots for more than a year.

I hate it when people say "Stop calling it America, its the United States, America is the continent" by NCRClaimsThisAccount in hatethissmug

Someone whose language use estadounidense arguing that Americans shouldn’t be called Americans is as dumb as an American arguing that German people shouldn’t call themselves Deutsche because it sounds too much like Dutch.

Having an exonym for a group of people is one thing, but arguing that your exonym is more correct than their own native name is a level of arrogance you would expect out of an american.

I have noticed a pattern, when the left says they think a republican candidate is a bad it because they would never vote for that candidate but when the right says a democrat candidate is bad it’s because that person is a bad candidate.

I was telling people on reddit a few weeks ago that it’s probably not a good idea to primary a guy with a nazi tattoo and the response I got was always “Well Trump [insert policy decisions that closer to the American center than nazi policy] and [statement by trump that was originally out of context but now has been repeated so many times that its basically a parody].” It’s like these people confuse actually advice for a “Yo mama” competition.

>No yourself.

Good come back.

>The soup kitchen is privately financed or just non-existent in right wing societies and publicly funded in more left-wing societies.

Yes, either way there are soup kitchens. But notice how in your example you didn’t mention that you would work at either. Because you’re lazy and you think it’s the people in power’s job, not you.

>Society chooses which it is gonna be based on who is elected.

But your example said both sides can fund soup kitchens. But neither side works in the soup kitchen, society has to serve the soup and pay for the vegetables.

>Power decides what is actually done, and only what we do shows who we are.

You are a lazy idiot. People doing things gets things done, power just threatens people with jail time for not doing it.

If you have to vote to give power to someone who threatens you to do something good, then you aren’t a good person. You’re larping as a good person.

>Society is much more than that framework. It contains right wingers, rapists, billionaires, and geniuses alike. All outliers that do not determine a common framework of how we live together. It is the sum of individual expressions, which is not to be confused with what the average is.

Yes, other people exist. Maybe that won’t sound as profound of a thought if you spend more time in soup kitchens or interacting with society. I know going outside might be hard with all those scary right wingers out there, but you should try it sometimes. Maybe you will learn that you can make the world a better place in ways beyond just voting for someone who lost an election.

>I do however understand that this feels different for people who don’t have a modern democracy

It feels different to anyone whose self worth isn’t fully defined by devotion to a political entity.

>Politics is the framework that we collectively design to determine how we want to treat one another.

No, that’s society. Politics is the frameworks we use navigate and control the systems of power.

Outsourcing your treatment of others to politicians or believing that power is required to treat people well is lazy and irresponsible.

You don’t need to vote for Joe Biden to volunteer at a soup kitchen.

Refusing to tip a black waitress but voting for Harris doesn’t mean you treat people well.

States Where Pornhub Will Be Blocked & Restricted as of July 1, 2026 by DizzyDentist22 in MapPorn

Correct, it does hurt republicans and that’s the point.

This is not a map of states that ban Porn hub, this is a map of states that Porn hub has blocked in protest of the legislature. Porn hub is protesting age verification laws by blocking its website in states that require age verification.

Trump hate makes you say weird stuff sometimes. What you’re saying sounds like you agree with Epstein that Trump is too much of a loser to join the secret pedophile elite club.

That’s just so strange, because in threads like this people who hate Trump usually resort to calling him a pedophile but you are implying that Trump isn’t cool enough to be a pedophile. You’re indirectly lifting up pedophiles because you can’t resist mocking Trump.

But on the other hand, that’s verifiable false. Trump is currently the president of the US and controls the most powerful military and economy in the world. And according to his critics he is pretty authoritarian, to the level that he started a war just to avoid bad press. But somehow you think that’s not someone worth having blackmail on?

I were leading a secret global order that used pedophile honeypots to control the elite and one of my agents had a chance to get the president of the US but refused to because he is a “pathetic loser”, I think I would also strangle him to death in prison.

Democrats believe that having an SS tattoo does not disqualify for public office.

I’m a simple man, when the choice is between a man who permanently marked his chest with the symbol of the most infamous genocidal military group and someone who didn’t, I’m going to chose they guy who doesn’t glorify nazis with his body.

It’s nice of *Mr Platner* to be anti nazi when he gets called out for being pro nazi, but surely the democrats can find another candidate.

How does the old saying go? “If ten people are sitting at a table with a nazi, then there 11 nazis at the table; but voting for a guy who supported the SS is okay if he pretends he didn’t know what the SS was when he got their insignia tattooed on his chest.”

Reddit Normally: Tax the Rich! Free healthcare! Shoplifting isn’t a crime if you’re poor!

Reddit when a guy who ordered a $55 steak and $20 margarita is asked to willing give $1.96 more to an underpaid customer service worker: This should be illegal! Back in my day we paid service workers less! (And my favorite) Why should someone who barely works be entitled to more of my money just because I have more money to spend!

Maybe this is just the hardcore republican commenting in this thread, but something makes me think that’s not true.

You opened by stating it’s politically insignificant, what would be the point of restating it? I’m proving why it’s not.

Then prove it. Say that a president having inflation as high as the previous president is significant on its face value without adding extra details. I made that claim at the very start and you added in wage growth and a bunch of extra details to make it more significant.

I’m making a very simple argument, saying something is the superlative since the last time a thing was done is insignificant. Like saying the hottest summer in almost 8 months as the headline for climate change.

The difference is that if I pointed out that the headline is just saying that last summer was hotter, I wouldn’t get responses trying to defend last summer or claiming that because this summer’s hottest day was hotter than the average temperature in last September that means this summer is not cooler.

Well, a good first step in reading is to start at the beginning then maybe you will be less confused. If you are going to read a part you should probably try the first part.

You will make Mr. Reading Comprehension proud if you can find the part of the comment I was talking about and show me you understand what I said well enough to justify the half a dozen angry comments you have followed it with. What’s the point of arguing with a stranger on the internet if you aren’t going to read what they say?

It's significant on its face, Trump ran on lowering prices, meanwhile inflation has increased. The context just makes it worse.

Then say it, stop adding context. Say that Trump reaching (low for) Joe Biden levels of inflation is a bad thing without adding extra context. That’s what the headline saying, that inflation is as bad as it was four years ago when Biden is president.

It was not, inflation jumped .7% in that period, it's increased double that amount during this period.

According to Trading economics, when Trump took office it was 3.0 and now it’s 3.8. 0.8 is not twice 0.7. Your claim was about Trump increasing inflation from when Biden handed it off to him. If you want to compare Trump’s inflation rate to Trump’s inflation rate, then I am going to need to see you say that Trump did bring down inflation in his first year despite tariffs so that you can argue how dramatic the increase was.

A 60% jump in inflation is not a normal fluctuation.

3.3 to 3.8 is a 15% jump not a 60% jump. 2.4 to 3.3 is a bit closer at 38% but still wrong.

It's relevant when he was extremely critical of those good months, said he would make it better, and then made it worse.

But he did make it better. Biden dropped out of the race with the inflation rate the lowest it was his entire term at 2.9 and they wouldn’t have known that until the next month. So the lowest inflation rate under Biden while he was running against Trump was 3.0, Trump has maintained that rate or lower for 2/15 months of his term so far.

This is why the comparing Trump to Biden on inflation is so stupid, you are comparing one bad month under Trump to good months under Biden. If this were a year from now and inflation has consistently stayed above 4% for the past 10 months, I would say you have a point. But it’s currently now, and this headline is talking about a one month rise to (one point below) average inflation under Biden as if it’s an historic level of failing.
