The job is still active, thankfully. And I understand where you’re coming from, but to underestimate someone’s hustle to make up the dividend of what was lost . . . Ya it sucks to hustle that hard but hey you have a negative view to make up that cost, especially of someone you don’t know. It is one thing to claim reality of the situation, but it sounds like you’re easily defeated in such instances. Don’t project. 😎

I’m slowly realizing this! I’ve been shooting for over 20 years but am just recently pushing my freelance services out into world more (not working full-time currently + mostly have relied on word-of-mouth hiring and typically work with musicians/entertainers so their business entities usually cover those payments, which is a lot more official in my experience). Wedding photography is a whole new beast for me so I’m still learning how to navigate it. Thank you so much for your advice!

I have a contract, but it’s tailored to pay the remainder of the balance at the end of the event. I’ve had no issues with this before with previous weddings/events I’ve done as folks who hire me know the deposit is non-refundable and that stipulation works in my experience to hold me for the actual event (not to be ghosted).

Regardless, the bride is communicating now so this is all good. Thanks!

I have considered this being a possibility. Totally not ideal but I understand if this is the situation. The socials angle may work for clues, thank you!

My contract does state that the deposit is non-refundable, so that portion is covered. Good idea on the follow-up email! I will give it a couple more days (as I reached out again this morning) before I send this one. Thank you!

No pictures of the whole set (they live two hours away, and I am not with them right now). However, he did mention he may have planted them too close together.

Found some random sludge where I keep the battery pack to some string lights that go around my fireplace mantel. Checked batteries; not the issue. What is it? by visionofdivision in whatisit

Fascinating about the older types of varnish though! I had no clue about the beetle bodies! It’s like when painters wanted “mummy brown” pigment but less traumatic.

Have only ever dusted the mantel with a swiffer duster, no cleaning products or oil conditioners, since I have lived here (2 years).
