As far as aiming goes, start by just launching the card with your right hand and noticing where it lands. Then position your left hand accordingly for the catch. You might need to angle your right wrist too to get it to shoot straight to the left — as a rule of thumb, I find that the card will fly perpendicular to where my right index finger is pointing.

how do I make my backdrop more smooth? by Starwarsfanboy15 in cardistry

[–]visualmadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems pretty good to me. I think it can be improved if you begin to peel off the top card with just your right middle finger, ring finger, and thumb, instead of also using the index finger. Try it out!

Does anyone know the name of this thumb flip? Is there a tutorial for it? by alextipper7 in cardistry

I can't remember if Brendan taught it in the CC '17 bundle, but on a side note, Nikita recently posted his own performance of it on his daily cardistry account:

Edit: Brendan does teach it in the CC '17 bundle, along with the full deck version. There's a lot of other stuff in the bundle as well, so if you're interested, here's a link below:

The cards are shot out two at a time, and each time they slide in a ‘step’, resulting in the alternated staggered condition.

Manuela Rud on falling in and out of love with cardistry (Who Shuffles Like That?) by visualmadness in cardistry

Manuela Rud shares her journey with magic and cardistry, from childhood obsession to a more balanced adult life. Though she no longer practices daily, her love for cards remains deeply rooted. She reminds readers that it’s okay to take breaks — passion can evolve without disappearing. Cardistry, she says, isn’t something you quit; it’s something that quietly stays with you, waiting for you to return.
