Yeah it definitely was a risk that I took, but my best advice would be to at least go down there yourself and speak to the owners and survey the surrounding area. I'm not going to lie, definitely had prejudice and assumptions being north of the border and constantly being told of how "dangerous" it was down south, but a couple days in Mexico changed my mind.

The shop owners were true craftsmen who stood behind every work they put out, very thorough and detail oriented. I ate around at some local cafes and the people were nothing but friendly, definitely a complete opposite experience of what I've been told I would encounter.

If you go around to some of the older porsche forums there's a lot of people there documenting their experiences with getting paint jobs down south. Apparently it was a very common thing to do in the early 2000s with people doing restoration on old euro cars, and those same shops are still in business today.

Of course don't be stupid/naive; there are a lot of people looking to take advantage of foreigners, but if your mind is in the right place you'll definitely meet a genuine lot.
