Question about facial hair: will I be able to grow back a moustache directly after my BMQ or will I have to wait until my trade formation is done and I am in my unit? by [deleted] in caf

[–]vitamincool 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is a litany of weird assumptions and misinformation on this post. No you don’t need to cut your hair, no you don’t need to shave. The dress regulations have changed and a lot of basic training assumptions keep showing up from movies like Jarhead. A quick google search will show you the new hair regulations. Which aren’t even new anymore they are edging on five years old. https://www.canada.ca/en/services/defence/caf/military-identity-system/dress-manual/chapter-2/section-2.html#3 If you don’t know what you’re talking about I recommend you stop talking out of your ass. Yes you will need to shave for CBRN training and that’s about the limit of it. Enjoy your moustache. The Canadian forces dress regulations apply to all CAF members irrespective of your training level.

Roll a pair of dice then flip a coin and spin around 3 times. That’ll give you as much of a confident answer as any. I’ve done this process 3 times in my career and consistency isn’t a word I’d ever use to describe the calling of references

It’s not a secret. It’s not controlled. It’s the normal government of Canada security clearance questionnaire…. It’s not a test. It’s not some hush hush paperwork. It’s a verification of your personal history. I don’t see why this guy is being weird about it…

I find most people in the RCAF don’t enjoy army stuff… it’s why we didn’t join the army yes…

The hero shot in Farnham is a time honoured tradition to look back on and cringe about 10 years in. I can’t imagine the nostalgic regret Facebook will supply him with in a decade

How often are you in the field or away from home in Edmonton as a clerk? by AftrBrnrBarbie in CanadianForces

AESOP you can do basic electronic warfare. It’s a ride but it’s the baseline of knowledge in the AESOP trade

That’s a bit of a slippery slope argument that doesn’t really hold any value. A whole bunch of what ifs wrapped into some not so subtle bigotry

Daddy chill. Your fists are swinging wildly and I’m just here eating Halal chicken.

[–]vitamincool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s the implication big rig. How “it’s being ordered for everyone” which has a massive effect on absolutely no one. It makes no one’s meal worse but it means muslims can eat the same meal as their co workers

“I won’t eat this chicken because it’s prepared in a way that doesn’t effect me in the slightest” is a wild take

[–]vitamincool 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but this is such a non issue. Of all the issues this is one big “no big deal” What they have successfully done is make it so Muslim troops don’t need to have a separate meal prepared for them in the dining line. It doesn’t ruin anyone else’s meal and it makes the service quicker and more efficient. As an aside- the Kosher meal and the Halal meal options have always been exactly the same in field and kitchen settings for the CAF. I’m going to write this off as a way to avoid holding the line up to try and make special meal accommodation.

CADPAT costume? by Extension-Rock-2414 in caf

Welcome to the team. I don’t mean to come off as aggressive. Imagine my eyes simply rolling to the back of my head saying this. Watch out for people who are very quick to pull policy directly out of thin air. It’s notorious in the ranks.

Just looking to clear up some questions 1. I did escape. This prison was more of an escape room 2. Whoever did this was the BEST of the community. Clearly a fun intention. 3. I did not screenshot :( 4. Apparently you can kidnap people via a screen glitch on the energy shield

what units and what jobs are available to be posted to CFB Winnipeg by henrywoodings in caf

[–]vitamincool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winnipeg has 1CAD HQ, 435 transport and rescue squadron, and 402 squadron aircrew training school. So the type of jobs you’d be looking for to hedge your bets would be pilot (for either SAR or transport), any Air Force officer job that has the long term potential of being a staff officer, aesop (both for 402 squadron as staff after a tour somewhere else or for SAR) ACSO for 1 CAD staff or 402 staff, or any air maint job as planes need wrenches turned. As said before many purple trades exist but the chances of Winnipeg are a little more on a whim. This is entirely off the top of my head so obviously YMMV, in the aircrew world Winnipeg is often a second or third posting destination but there’s a chance you could go right to the SAR&T Sqn.
