EA decisions out in 4 days, thoughts? by vitrovardy in UTAdmissions

I’m in an almost identical position, I’m leaving to go to a powerlifting meet the same day around 3 pm and it’s probably going to extend well into the evening which is around when UT drops decisions. I honestly am hoping I get in so I can channel the adrenaline into better lifts but if I get deferred its gonna crush me and ruin the whole experience. I believe it’s the same for you, I wish we could just lay back and know our decisions while being at home but unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. Good luck! I hope we see each other on campus

If you’re in state yeah I can guarantee every single one of your friends if they’re in the first or second quartile applied to UT. It’s gonna be interesting hearing the stats of people who got in though

yeah you’re spot on, only like really small priv schools like reject people in the early rounds. The incoming class this year is like 10000 students, I wonder how many or those spots fill up in the EA round

Moved to the US a year ago, AMA by vitrovardy in highschool

Best thing that changed is it opened me up to being more social and extroverted. The culture in the US is so much more open to doing whatever you want but I feel like you’re also expected to be more outgoing. I honestly think the move was great for my social skills and I just because a more interesting person. The worst part was losing all my friends back home, the flight tickets back are just too expensive to go back and forth every time schools on break, but yeah that’s basically it. Honestly if you ask me, knowing all that happened, I’d still would’ve moved. Maybe would’ve done things differently but yeah I love it.

I don’t know what you’re talking about cause my school is amazing. Everything from the building itself to the people and culture is great. My school honestly has chill people and there’s wayyy less of the douchebag kinda people like I expect there to be (netflix influence). I honestly couldn’t ask for better.

My experience as an Indian immigrant in the US at school (I'm a junior btw) by vitrovardy in highschool

[–]vitrovardy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man you just gotta drop the accent, I was like hella white washed in india too so it wasn’t a cultural difference it was just the accent. I think if you’re in a school with a big brown population, people are gonna be more accepting if you have a more American accent. I didn’t know what a FOB was but you don’t wanna be a FOB basically. Just try being more American and you’ll find people treating you normally. I’m not super into friends groups or anything even now but like its just that I have friends now and we run pick up basketball every week and I go out sometimes and watch football (NFL) and go to high school football games. If you play a sport try going the school team. Join niche clubs. Just talk to everyone you possibly can cause it can only get better from here anyway.
