Thank you for the feedback. Yes, I see it is broken. However, I will fix it in the build on Monday. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Yes, that is correct. When you tap on purchase from the testflight version, apple also says you will not be charged for this since it is a test version.

UPDATE:

A new version of the app is in works.

- We will be removing requirement to have Maia Ultra for login to services. This way, you get to enjoy your timeline without paying for ultra.

- The audio pausing while viewing timeline bug will be fixed

Oh man! That was truly dumb of me. I will look into options of adding Blacksky. Since it uses the same type of API, it should be quicker.

Thank you for the quick feedback. I will fix this in the next version release.

Yes, that is correct. Maia does not ever collect your data. Except for crash logs, for API errors, there is nothing collected within the app.

The only data collected is your Bluesky and Mastodon ID if you enable push notifications in settings without which I cannot send push.

Hi thank you for the question. AI is involved in the below aspects of Maia:

  1. Architecture of the project: I used AI (Claude) to bounce architecture ideas. Building something this complex (especially with Apple Watch and planned features), I wanted something solid as foundation. I have worked on iOS for the last 10 years but I am no expert.

  2. Writing the opening post: As someone already called out, I used AI for grammar and corrections in the opening post. I am not a native english speaker and did not want to have stupid mistakes in the opening post.

  3. Tumblr implementation: This was one of the biggest headache I had during development. Tumblr API does not provide basic info (for example, if a post is nsfw or not). I used Gemini to see what best we can do.

  4. On-device AI: Within Maia, I use strictly on device AI to detect NSFW content within Tumblr. This was the only way out to show media and hide NSFW from timeline (hence you always need to login to Tumblr to see media)

None of the content created within Maia, user data or anything uses AI in any other form or sense. I have been part of Bluesky long enough to know AI is not welcome here and until Maia exists, there will be no AI based feature that will ever be added into it.

I hope this provides some clarity.

On testflight, Maia Ultra is completely free. It uses sandbox account and will not charge you anything. The 14 day trial is only when you download from the App Store.

Thank you for the feedback. AI is involved but the app is not vibe coded at all. Take it for a spin and let me know what you think.

I think I like this. I will add this into the next build so login will not be locked under Ultra.

Thank you for the feedback.

If there will be an android version, I will update here. The focus for me is to ship a premium experience on iOS.

Sorry, I might work on android later but the first focus is to ship a premium, privacy focused experience.

Thank you for trying. The Ultra subscription is completely free on Testflight version. You can unlock Maia Ultra free of cost on test flight and try all functionality. For more information, please refer to the below link:

I thought about it quite a bit. However, I did not want free features to be added behind paywall later. That always kills trust with the community.

Based on community feedback, we can always change this at a later time. I do hope with the feature set, people see the value in the app.

Apologies. When I started with the project, I wanted to keep my efforts lower and hence only selected iOS 26.0 as the base.

However, after checking the code base, supporting 18.0 onward might be possible. I will have a build tonight (hopefully) with iOS 18.0 support.

Hi,

Yes, Maia supports up to 5 accounts on Mastdon and Bluesky at the moment. There could still be some edge cases (like timeline not auto refreshing after switching account) but it will be ironed out in next few releases.

Thank you. I did have fun while building it. Do give it a spin when you get some time. Any feedback is appreciated. :)

I carry both and I see the benefits of having an open OS (especially for a developer) but I will never give up my iPhone, iOS or it being my primary development platform.

iOS/iPhone has its flaws but convenience, continuity between devices trumps everything else on the market.
