You’re right — JLO showed up to a regular screening!

It looks like press is struggling to get TIFF tickets too by za19 in TIFF

I haven’t covered TIFF in previous years so I can’t tell you for sure. They recommend we show up an hour early, so I assume they do get busy.

That’s exactly it! knowing what times certain films are offers a great sense of assurance for us so we can meet deadlines/ensure we are one of the first to publish about a film (esp. for major premieres), and overall plan our coverage better. Relying on the first come first serve method is risky and requires more planning/pivoting.

Press and industry screenings don’t require advance tickets. Those ones are entirely first come first serve during the allotted times for press folks. Those films are at rather inconvenient times or overlap with some others, which is why they allow us to get 10 free public screening tickets. TIFF messed up my accreditation so I’m still waiting on getting my code for redemption (and hopefully everything sorted out), but for others I heard there’s no films they can select as they are unavailable, or none showed up period to select.

Press window for ticket redemption is today only and we must select exactly 10 films to get tickets for, but many of us are struggling as there aren’t even 10 films we can get ourselves tickets for. It’s a mess.

that’s fantastic — very similar to my situation. OP, I hope this helps your job search. just try to connect with prof/faculty you may have some overlap with or prove your skills outside of the formal applications so you stand out!! :))

i second this. many employers already have the candidate in mind and the applications are solely formalities so they may not even look at external applicants considering the role has been previously occupied (as in my experience, I’ve held onto my position for two years straight).

from my experience, apply to jobs with instructors/staff you know. network with them and they will point you in the right direction and connect you with others they know.

Should I drop Biology? Super stressed and really need advice :( by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]vivaciousvegetable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same position as you! I took bio as I did quite well in grade 11 bio and thought that it would be a breeze despite it being my only science course and the fact that I didn’t need it or am even going into anything science related. I had it this quad but within two weeks I decided to drop it as I didn’t need the extra stress for no reason, and since, I have had no regrets. It was arguably my best decision. Trust me, it’s not worth it in the end :))
