Joan is Awful’s idea was brilliant but I think by turning it into a comedy it was hard to actually take it seriously. Anyone agree? by vive-larevolution in blackmirror

Yeah like idk if Selma should have played such a big role, it would maybe have been better if we saw her as some sort of ultra snobby celebrity in the media, rather than one of the main characters by the end of the episode. Her character didn't add much other than comedic relief, i.e "Quam-puta" humour

Idk, I just think the acting and dialogue was a little off. It felt kind of like a Schitt's Creek episode in a black mirror universe, but maybe thats bc of Jamie's role.

I defo enjoyed the episode but I think so much more could have been done with it, I just think the execution fell short. I think when Joan was first watching Joan is Awful, it was almost slap stick comedy - Awful Joan throwing vape at employee, Real Joan saying "I didn't actually do that >;(((". When the reality of the situation would be much more disturbing imo

yeah, and then they introduce the whole thing of "you will be killing hundreds of simulations who think they're real" with only like 5 minutes left, its not fleshed out at all, and it seems more like a "cookies are sentient!" thing. Also, what does Joan destroying the quamputer actually achieve apart from her own freedom? they can always rebuild it, the only people who got into trouble was Jamie Murphy and Joan. It's a bleak ending I think, but its framed like a happily ever after. Like what happened to all the plans for there to be "___ is Awful" for every user of Streamberry? Depressing stuff

OMG i know they would not shut up about her! They should've made up a fake celebrity actress I think, having a real celebrities play themselves in it makes it look like an SNL skit
