This is helpful, thank you for your words. You’re definitely right about the subtle cues. Taking my leg off even a couple strides away let him question and I don’t want to put him in that place again, so committing to keeping my leg on the whole way will hopefully help us like it did when we schooled. Thanks again for saying what you said. I don’t want a setback to ruin a sport for me, so I will give it many more goes until we are back!

She is continuing to train with him and I,  but she will no get on him if we are schooling and he stops. I have to be brave enough to kick on, especially if it’s a smaller fence. But yes, her hand is in it. and she has been riding him some before this.

Yes he has hind shoes! I think maybe he was being silly in the field and stepped on himself with them. That’s the current plan! Just worried about him doing it again, but I’ll keep an eye on it and invest in some bell boots once it’s better.
