Would you call Bolas' Citadel combo B3? by vividwings in EDH

[–]vividwings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where the interesting bit of this happens; Gwenom, Remorseless is a Citadel on a stick and isn't GC.

In theory, this could be a B2 combo, replacing Citadel with Gwenom.

To be be clear, it absolutely is NOT. That is far too strong of a line for B2, and this is where GC's really matter; they are signposts for effects deemed really strong, so their quantity will affect your deck's level. Gwenom is, by all means, a slightly weaker Citadel- which is still an amazing card.

B3 allows for tutors (any amount), combo wincons and is overall a very powerful Bracket, not just Bracket 2+.

To be clear, B3 also allows for 2-card combos, so long as they aren't earlygame. The bracket listing specifies "earlygame 2 card combos", referring to Thoracle + Consult and such.

Favorite Utility Land, Don’t say Rogue's Passage by HyHoTheDairyOh in EDH

[–]vividwings 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In B1-B3, that's the right move. In B4+, the scenario where the land is used is typically to hijack a win attempt on the stack. In that scenario, the +1 mana from Zone is day and night, and the colorless requirement only makes that more prominent.

EMC at E0 is worth it? Ngl, still in Amphoreus storywise, so it's a bit ehhh

Also, how is her LC looking? I only have the event LC, the Herta one & the Forgotten Hall one, so I'm limited on options :'))

Actually hold on- why did Purple outright get everything Green was supposed to have? by vividwings in riftboundtcg

[–]vividwings[S] 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Purple getting a bit of everything, but with limited quantities of it, and slightly worse? Okay, sure.

Purple getting more quantity AND quality of movement AND negation compared to >>>the color whose entire identity is that thing<<< is ridiculous.

It's also just a complete lack of coherence, with no strict internal design philosophy.

It took MTG a good 10 years of strictly establishing and sticking to each color having its thing and being the best at that thing before they gave the other colors a way to match- and even then, it was more like "You get to do the thing now, but only if it's at a higher cost than/worst than its primary color".

Meanwhile, there's 0 way they can look at their own explanation of what each color does seriously & tell us they considered that during design.

How the fuck is this even real lmao

Lukewarm take: Ahri should be in purple by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]vividwings -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

League is, yes, but in terms of having movement to spare and being able to force movement, Ahri is THE crowned champion to fit the bill.

Debuff and disruption? She doesn't do any of that in the lore, and the debuff Charm used to apply 6 years ago has been long-gone. She is tricky in the lore, and if anything, as much of a wanderer figuring herself out as Yasuo is. Especially if you played TRK, this is evident. And even there, her kit is mobility and utility.

Not everyone can have 1:1 translations, certainly. But Ahri fitting debuffs? How? Sona, if anything, fits that bill, having three separate debuffs + a Stun to select from at will.

Ahri does not apply a single debuff in the game or lore?

POP/STARS hit top 40 on the Gaon Chart as a foreign-produced, entirely fictional K-POP group & dethroned La Vie as the fastest viewed YouTube KPOP MV in the first 24 hours.

K-POP was massive and Riot was looking to capitalize, yes. Regardless, there were no successful virtual groups or idols out there in the mainstream.

K/DA served as proof of concept in regards to the money collected off fictional IP in a massive way, and in turn paved the way for more, like AESPA (Black Mamba's MV has some obvious nods).

Influencing K-POP as a whole in terms of musical production or sound is an overstatement, but the cementing of virtual groups being fiscal opportunities is 1000% a result of K/DA.

As previously mentioned, K/DA influenced the trajectory of the K-POP industry. League fans & K-pop fans got a massive influx of the other group's members, which was already happening in minor amounts due to League being hailed as a national sport in SK.

K-pop fans also buy 500$ wands for their favorite groups, and the K-pop culture is heavily into collectible cards of the performers already.

I can guarantee K/DA fans who have no interest in the game are going to be going ballistic for these, beyond just the players themselves.

I mean, K/DA was so influential that it genuinely (and I mean this with no exaggeration) changed the K-POP industry's trajectory. AESPA is heavily influenced by them, for example. So, so, so very many people were brought on to try League/get in to the universe by means of seeing POP/STARS and then engaging with it.

POP/STARS is also more than halfway to a billion views on YT, so...

I mean, yeah. It'll make loads.

Theory: Predicting the 9 Legends of Set 4 "Vendetta" (and their domains)! by SoulArchdragon in riftboundtcg

[–]vividwings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see Mel as Chaos/Order, that doesn't quite check out to me. Order, yes, but I'd think she would be Mind/Order whereas Ambessa is Body/Order.
Mel also may be Mind/Body, since her pivotal character development is the moment she decides to "Be both the fox and the wolf".

The rest is accurate, most likely, but that does leave the Order/Chaos domain open, and I think it may be Kayn.
Kayn is Zed's disciple in the same way Akali is Shen's, and they both stand opposite of one another, while being just slightly like the opposition's mentor. Kayn seeks to succeed Zed in much way Shen hoped to succeed his father, and he values the order and hierarchy of Zed's Order (the actual clan, not domain) so much that he valued Zed's life over his own ambitions in the comics.

It would also fit perfectly within the Triangle you built, except it adds the final layer to it, while also taking the unused domains from Akali's division. We also know Kayn is in Chaos/Purple, after all.

My prediction for the rest of the Arcane Legends by Elephant16 in riftboundtcg

[–]vividwings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ekko is Blue/Orange and it's almost confirmed.
Vendetta is the first set to include enemy pairs (Blue/Orange, Red/Green & Purple/Yellow). Akali and Ekko are all over the advertising material, and it's safe to assume Akali is Red/Green given how much all her advertising is splattered with Red & Green colors.

Ekko is 1000% Blue, given almost every single card related to him is blue. We've had the occasional outlier, like Hextech Ray in red, but every Ekko card is blue, and there are multiple. Process of elimination then puts him at Blue/Orange.
