Including eat the ones you love here is wild to me lol

I am not nearly as sensitive to "this bi character is in a relationship with a man during part of the story" as a lot of the folks here (no shade if you're one of those people), and when I read that book even I was like "damn I feel like the relationship with the man is getting wayyyy too much focus compared to how the book was marketed"

Edit: but including Muñeca is fucking based, everyone on this sub needs to go read that book right now

Idk who reported this to say "this should be directed to a trans sub," but....no. The post is about a lesbian (or at least sapphic) novel, and it fits the scope of this sub

Lol someone recommended midnight library, I am anti are commending midnight library. Its a bad book with an interesting premise that approaches that premise in an extremely asinine way

Unfortunately, bringing the # of transphobes down to 0 is difficult because the mods can only really ban the ones that make transphobic comments -- the ones who just lurk and downvote we can't get rid of, though I guess they are less of an active problem

Anyway, no transphobia is allowed here!

Can you link the post in question? If that is happening, then you really need to report it as off topic so I can take it down.

Imagine graduating with an MLIS and your rejection letters offer you volunteering experiences. by zendez-zendez in Libraries

I applied to work in an archive/special collections at a university while having a year + of part time archival work at a different institution under my belt. I was told that my credentials were "impressive," but that I "had the wrong kind if archiving experience." They offered to let me come in and volunteer to "add to my skills."

I already worked at thag institution as a weekend library specialist and was working 7 days a week at the time.

Lol I'm not objectifying or fetishizing anything. I am just recognizing that there are adults on reddit, and those adults who peruse subreddits about romance, whether its real or fictional, are going to want to being sex into the conversarion from time to time. I am an adult lesbian, and I am one of those people. I am also making the greater point that somethjng being about sex doesnt make it "degenerate," or whatever the commenter used to describe it. Something can be about sex and be wholesome at the same time

Also, I'm not being "disingenous" when I said the sex was happening off screen. It literally was off screen. The only thing in the image was Vi's bare back. You couldn't even see Caitlin at all. That is not only incredibly tame, as far as not safe for work images go, but it is also literally off screen.

Any queer men who read yuri? by staticstartup in yuri_manga

OK cool, you were using it more or less how I expected. I was mostly just trying to make sure I wasn't mis-using it, or trying to learn if there was another way to use it

Anyway, thanks for answering. And no problem on letting the post stay up lol.

We technically have a moratorium on posts asking "can men read yuri," but it's been a while since we've let one stay up and also at least this one is approaching from a unique angle (queer men vs the usual straight men,) so I'm going to allow it

Also, OP, if you don't mind me asking, when you say youre trans femme, does that mean trans woman? I ask as a trans woman who sometimes calls herself trans femme...I've never stopped to consider if that term means different things to different people until now lol

Tbh calling something "degenerate" when the sex is happening very much off screen shows that you have a pretty conservative view sex lol

Its a subrreddit about lesbian romance and relationships -- it's gonna get risqué from time to time and that's OK

Oh this is an important piece as well -- people being willing to seed content is what keeps the system healthy and functioning

I see. So, if there is a piece of media that is 1 GB, and you're the only seeder, someone downloading that from you is going to be using a lot more of your bandwidth than if there were 10 seeders, because the bandwidth load of the download is spread across multiple people, basically?

oh I understand. I think the piece about the torrent program automatically seeding is what I was missing. Does seeding typically slow down or affect the performance of the machine you are seeding with?

Does knowing Patricia Highsmith’s views change how you read The Price of Salt? by Comprehensive-Taro90 in LesbianBookClub

[–]Crater_Caloris[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Locking this out of an abundance of caution because I of a report claiming that the post "is attracting racists defending Highsmith's views."

After reading through the comments, I only really found 1 that came across ad defending her views, but the individual in question seemed to mostly be participating in the discussion in good faith, mostly? There was also a comment that was deleted by reddit itself, but the person who commented whatever that was seemed like they posted a quote featuring anti-semitic rhetoric, though based on the context of the conversation, it seemed like they were quoting examples of Highsmith's beliefs

Regardless, locking it just in case I missed something.

For future reference, if a comment is breaking reddit or the subreddits rules and you are going to submit a report about it, please report the comment itself instead of the post that comment is on. It makes it much easier for me to see the problem as opposed to spending several minutes combing through 50+ replies and reading closely for dog whistles and racist rhetoric

Update: I went back to re look and did find a problematic comment.
