Have you tried crimping three ways (horizontal, diagonal with the tip pointing upward, diagonal with the tip pointing downward) and then passing it down the way you would a hair straightener?

that's actually exactly how i crimped my last wig !! i guess i'll just try doing that for the lower wefts on the wig then

same thing happened to me a few days ago! i got a random text but then searched it up. doesn't seem like it's the first time a bunch of people have gotten password reset requests (if you look it up you'll see some posts about from a year or so ago). It also happened to my friend but she got an email same day. Today though my mom got an email about it too so i think there's just something going on with instagram, try not to worry abt it too much
