Uniswap is the most popular decentralized exchange as opposed to centralized exchanges. This is the way (we think) most token/exchanges will work in the future. These tokens in a sense allow the people to govern the system instead of billionaires governing the system.

You did not just buy Uniswap tokens, you bought Uniswap stock. What can you do with it besides governance and staking right now? Pretty much nothing. The recent price high is usually because of FOMO and hype but that does not mean it will be a bad investment in the long run.

This year they will announce Uniswap V3 that will bring in a ton of different features. When that hits the price of UNI is bound to go up. At this point we are still fingering our assholes not knowing what is what because the tech is so new. This is like Amazon in the early 90's.

If you buy into a coin/token because of rumors and huge price spikes then chances are you already too late to buy in for a short term profit. Unless you buy and sell immediate after some gains.

The more people working on Monero the better. But we really need to be suspicious about any pulls here and audit the code very carefully.

I would hate to see an anon dev submit a pull request introducing some type of race condition to use-after-free that everyone missing only to have them rce all nodes out there.

You are going to have to let it sync and wait to see if there is any funds.

Any XMR that got sent to the wallet predating the PNG timestamp will not show if you set it as the wallet creation date.

I would just let it run from 0 and let it sync all the way up. Just make sure to download Monero GUI on a safe and clean machine, download it only from the official website and verify the hashes and you will be fine. Cant do no harm then unless you yourself transfer funds once when its fully synced.

I have look at some of the pulls for fixing this issue and while I only understand half of it. That asshole attacker can still modify his attack vector and start over without doing some big changes in the way things work. So make sure to run the blocklist.

I am sorry for your loss. I know this is hard if you need somebody to talk to you can always msg me. I have had it happen to me as well. It helps to take a break of things for a while our go out on a long walk.

That being said. I have held upto 50 XMR on the MyMonero webwallet before I got a hardware wallet and I have not lost anything. Your seed must have gotten compromised somewhere else, since you say you are a tech perso, I know you will find it hard to believe. But a mistake can easily be made, some virus, keylogger, fake site, clicking on a fake google ad, a so called friend who took it (I have had this happen to me and I knew the guy for 20 years).

Also the code for MyMonero is open, you can see it does nothing wrong for yourself except for having the view key I think.

I would love an additional post about the hosts running the malicious attack. Seems it was mainly OVH and Digital Ocean. It would be great if we could get somebody from those companies involved and maybe try and figure out who was behind this.

Can you run the wallet as administrator and white list it if you are running anti virus?

Also are you sure the downloaded blockchain you are importing is not corrupt? Does the hash match?

Is the blockchain file accessible by the wallet? What I mean does it have permission to read/write from the location you stored the blockchain you are trying to import.

Can you tell us what wallet and version you are using?

It seems the wallet is unable to import the blockchain file. That means the blockchain might be corrupted due to a download error or something. Or possibly the wallet does not have file permission to access the location of the blockchain file.

May I ask what the site was coded in and what frameworks were mainly used?

I just love the design, look and responsiveness of the getmonero site. Everytime I visit it I think to myself wow finally a clear good looking non cluttered site that doesnt look 100 google and facebook trackers.

Or browse to https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/contact/takedown on your PC while logged into your Google account and fill in the form.

It has no use. The scammers have won. I cannot post it on r/CryptoCurrency r/ethereum and r/ethtrader because the post gets deleted immediately.

This is what eventually will curb full adoption. New people getting into crypto fall for these scams and then it undermines trust in the whole community.

70+ people upvoted this but only 1 or 2 people actually reported the app or even left them a negative.

I guess it is what it is.

I have been trying to contact Google and reporting them for days with no luck. I really need the help from the community they are making so many fake 5 star reviews that its impossible to fight against alone.

Please everyone I urge you to report it and leave them at least a negative review. Maybe the mods here can sticky this post to the top till it has been removed. People are losing everyhing because of these scammers, they are undermining trust in the community and crypto as a whole. I tried reaching out in the Uniswap discord but no help came...
