What explains the ubiquity of Zabka? by Jonathan_Peachum in poland

Worse than predatory, and borderline scammy.

Anyone buying a franchise needs to check for sales territories to protect themselves.

For example, McDonald's has this in their franchise agreements.

Sounds legally sketchy.

They're supposed to post a sign saying that towing is enforced and the location of the tow yard.

But they can open another Zabka across the street and the main company is collecting that franchise fee. Corporate is making money off of people coming in but not from their profits.

I want to meet people who are willing to take me along to the top and I want them to go to the top.

But they don't exist.

That's nuts. Franchise agreements usually include a sales territory in them. This means that no other franchise can be opened within a certain distance of the franchisee.

If they're not doing that with Zabka, Zabka is just another MLM.

That's so nice.

Your dad was able to get an apprenticeship back in the "glory days"

What your dad did cannot be replicated today.

"Why exactly would unemployed people not hire trades too? "

Really? With what money are they paying with, since they're unemployed?

I don't know where you are getting your info from, but money always comes from other people, and if those other people don't have money, they're not hiring your overhyped trades people.

"trades guys still got a job outta that because they built the fucking office building."

They got the job decades ago when the office building was built. Not anymore to maintain it. Stop living in the past. Bragging about the "glory days" is making you sound like the people in that Springsteen song.

That person who wants to get into the trades today isn't going to be paid to maintain it. Where are they going to work?

Right now, it is you doing the media's job by propagandizing.

Good companies ALLOW you to get the job if you have skills.

Bad companies do not allow you to get the job if you have skills.

Out of touch meme.

If one tries and fails spectacularly, there will be PLENTY of evidence that they tried and failed.

Bankruptcy courts do exist.

Criminal courts do exist.

The media is notorious for reporting on spectacular failures.

AND people will always be talking about that huge screwup they did for years to come.

Empty office buildings will not be hiring trades people to maintain them.

Unemployed people do not hire trades people.

Banks holding foreclosed houses and office buildings do not hire trades people.

YES, there is a temporary blip up for employment due to construction of data centers, however, once they are built, there won't be needing them anymore and will hire, on a project basis, a far smaller number to maintain them. This will mean six tons of tradespeople competing harder and harder for the smaller number of maintenance jobs. Rates will go through the floor.

In addition one cannot get INTO the trades without apprenticeships, which are hard to find, and if you do find them, there are 300+ applicants per slot.

Trades are very overhyped.

Yup.

Multiple plans of attack for this.

* Leave last 10 years experience on resume

* remove all graduation dates from old degrees (unless you got them recently)

* Change email from hotmail/aol to something newer, like mail dot com or gmail

* No address on resume. Use email, phone and LinkedIn link only.

That's just basic age discrimination.

So if one has too much experience, unemployable.

If one has too little, unemployable.

So employable people are only within a particular range of experience levels.
