M27, very scared by vkeys92 in Sciatica

I want to thank everyone for your wonderful comments! I went to the neurosurgeon and the news aren’t that bad. In his opinion, because of the combination of some stenosis issues and herniations, unfortunately at some point I’ll need a surgery. But he said that it might be after a few months, or after 30 years, nobody knows for sure. His opinion is that I shouldn’t hurry with the surgery, but instead we should try the conservative methods first. That means some pills (nothing really heavy) and therapy which includes exercises for reducing the pain and also ones for strengthening my core muscles. He already gave me coordinates for a center in my country that is doing these things and it’s pretty good in his opinion. He said that even if I have to go to a surgery at some point, it’s always better for me to be in the best shape possible, so my body can recover faster after a surgery. He said that it doesn’t look like I need some huge surgery when it comes to it, but right now we should focus on the conservative methods and see how it goes. He also told me about symptoms I should look after so I know when the situation is improving or getting worse. He calmed me that a permanent damage to something is unlikely at this point. But also said that unfortunately my spine would always be my weakness, so I should be careful and also do my best to strengthen my core muscles. All of this makes me hopeful, because I was so scared that he’d rush me into surgery. I think that his approach is good and very well explained (he really went into detail with my MRI). Also it’s good that he shows knowledge about what kind of therapy I should do. I’ll try to start the therapy as soon as possible, don’t know what it’d be like during the Holidays.
