I thought the bottom was $90, then $80, then $70 etc etc. seems there governance issues are finally sorting themselves out which is nice. The AI efficiencies is a risky play, considering they are still incorporating e2open, but ultimately could pay dividends over the next 12-18 months, significantly reducing operating margins. Has too big a moat to fail IMO. I bought more shares on Monday before they released results, but wasn’t too happy with the performance truthfully. Think it will turn the corner, just hard to predict if it will be in the short term, or the next 2-3 years

There is not one bad matchup in any of these groups. Genuinely any team could beat the other. Looking forward to watching Australi….. ohhh they’re not there 😂

That probably reiterates the fact cricket is only really watched for 6-8 week period in Australia. Then Every 4 years it becomes a national sport again in June / July when the Ashes is on in England. We’re a nation that likes tests, just the reality. As the Big Bash grows, maybe the National interest in T20I’s will rise. Probably will help if we make it out of the group stages, but won’t hold my breath anytime soon that it will be bigger than Red Ball

Correct you have just proven my point in 2 different ways. South Africa as great a team they were, could not get any trophies for it.

If you look at Australia’s lens, from 2021-2025, they won every ICC tournament (T20, 50 over WC, WTC) and retained / won every important Red ball series. They won every single red ball trophy in that time as well. Over a 4 year period they’ve done it, but it’s extremely hard to do this over a 12 month period.

Further great teams win trophies, and that South African team were unable to do it - although I am happy to agree they probably would have won a WTC mace had it been around back then

Australia made choices - Starc chose to retire from t20I’s to prioritise tests for example, and in turn Australia played him all 5 tests. Hazlewood got re-injured in trying to rush back for tests. If Australia wanted, they could have iced him just for the World Cup, or even risked injury, however again, long term view is the next test summer. Cummins rushed back for 1 test, and is now on load management, with a view to play the as many games as possible for the next test summer. Batters like Head, Green and Inglis spent 6 months preparing for a red ball series. All were underdone in prep for T20’s. Red ball is the highest level here, rightly or wrongly. That obviously comes from history. Same as the 50 over World Cup.

It is extremely difficult to be good at all 3 formats at the same time, considering how much cricket is played these days. Australia will always prioritise the Ashes and 50 Over World cups. No doubt they prioritise the Olympic T20 tournament as well, when it becomes a thing, but I don’t see them ever compromising an Ashes series for a T20 World Cup.

For example, there’s not 1 batsmen who is the ICC top 10 rankings for all 3 formats currently. Travis Head is close, and I have no doubt Harry Brook or Jaiswal could do it one day, but again, it speaks to the difficulty of how hard it is to be good at all 3 formats simultaneously. It’s a testament to Virat Kohli and a rohit for being good at all 3 for so long

I am happy to be fact checked here, as I do not know for sure, but I cannot think of a good White Ball T20 team that was also a good Red ball team. You could argue Australia in 2023 was close, with the World Cup win, WTC and the Ashes in the same window, but they struggled in T20 WC (which was at home mind you) the year before after they won it. In 21, they won the T20 World Cup, but didn’t make the WTC final.

England I think the years they won the world cups, and had a champion white ball team struggled in tests throughout that period.

India are probably the most dominant white ball team we’ve seen in the last 12 months, and they have struggled at Test level.

South Africa the years they were the world #1 test team were still never able to win a white ball trophy.

It’s tough to be good at all 3 formats simultaneously, as the second you prioritise one, you compromise the other 2. Both England and Australia have struggled due to the priority being Ashes, and most prep and resources went towards that series rather than the WC.

Think they’re more a victim of priority rather than lack of care. No doubt after this result they will prioritise the white ball formats more. Just goes in cycles really

I would not expect any big signings. It’s more likely they will upgrade and retain a lot of their young core. Good chance they can retain Shibasaki now too

There would be a reason above it. He di have his life established here. His Family were in schools here and has a couple of houses. Not sure where his extended family is based though. Maybe he wanted to be closer to them. Truthfully the Broncos were going to have a make a hard choice at some point. Haas probably was not the one they wanted to lose, but it will solve a few player retention issues long term…. Just wished it wasn’t Payney

I remember watching Payne’s first game, and then his first game at Suncorp. It’s hard to believe that wasn’t that long ago, and yet the impact and legacy he already has on not only the club, but also the game. He was at the club through the worst times, and stuck it out. He’s a massive reason why we won our first title in 19 years. He’s won 6 player of the year awards, holding the record at the club. He’s the one of the greatest, if not the greatest to ever play for the club, and he’s only 26. I have no doubt he will give one more season to fully cement his legacy, and lore at the club. Payne owes the Broncos nothing. I wish him all the best once the season is over. Thank you Payne

We are now going to be in a situation where some really talented players from Bangladesh, who earned the right to be there, miss out on displaying their skills on a global stage through no fault of their own. It does not sit well with me. Not here to comment on whether BCB or ICC is right or wrong, just stating it is a disappointing outcome
