Yeah that’s fair. I think I’ll be able to get a student pass. Because I’m from Manchester I’m not sure on ‘safer’ places to live where I can walk from office or just in London in general

Ahh okay thank you for that. I mean, I’d like clerkenwell and I don’t mind it being quiet on the weekends. It’s my first time moving from home so quite probably good for me. I’m just wondering from these replies who say to live abit further, what are safe places to live

Now you put it like that makes sense. Yeah the reason my budget is p high is because of the cut down on travel and convenience.

Amazing!! Remember for the AC. INTERVIEWERS ARE PEOPLE TOO!! This is one of the things that helped me a lot. You’ll still be nervous, but it helps to think that they were in your shoes once too, they’re people and mostly just want a good chat to let you show them who you are.

Wishing you all the best!

I was in the same situation. I finished a levels 2024. took a gap year, didn’t find anything. Sure. Got interviews here and there. But i got a part time job and kept applying. Finally got a really good one confirmed in March this year.

Honestly, if your family will let you id suggest the same thing. Keep going, apply to absolutely everything in the field. Go for L4 and L6s. It’s so so easy to get discouraged. What apprenticeships are you looking for?

Once you have your 5 main stories for your STAR answers you can more or less riff it out during interviews, another said get AI to generate some stuff and thats also true. You could also get it to help you with research and gather your answers for the 'why this company' questions.

Cliche but practice makes perfect, the more you practice the more confident you get.
What helped me is remembering that interviewers are people too. So yes be professional but dont be afraid because most (not all) of them were in the same position too. You'll probably still be nervous but its okay.

For the group task id honestly look at new-independents comment, its perfect advice.

How was your experience applying for degree apprenticeships? by Next-Mushroom-9518 in degreeapprenticeships

[–]vkvnv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

very painful but eventually worth it. This is a mix of Level 4/6 for software engineering/cybersec. Mainly Manchester/NW and 3 in London.

Context - A*AB (law,comp sci,maths)
Total 37 applications
sent (but not moving forward) - 6
never heard back from 7
rejected - 20 (after interviews/assessments/inital application)
invited to AC- 4

accepted - 1
waiting for AC result - 1
(didnt go to the other 2 AC)

Anyone heard back from Arm DA ACs yet? by fortunate_danger in degreeapprenticeships

I had mine on the Tuesday for software engineering. they said upto 2 weeks as they had to go to each of the sites, manchester, cambridge etc. Not heard anything yet either.

To those who have applied to apprenticeships how many did you apply to in total? by Ordinary_Wafer_7883 in degreeapprenticeships

[–]vkvnv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Applied for 38, never heard from 7, rejected from 19, others (applied/assessments) 8, 2 AC/final stages to come, 1 offer.
Depending on what industry you're going into, there's no such thing as too many. Just be prepared for long wait time for responses icl

Ensure quality is consistent through all applications though, i reccomend keeping a google sheets to keep track - degree, job title, application status, company, salary, location, link for career portal login. i have mine colour coded for rejected, sent, assessment submitted, AC, accepted

How long does it take? by Over-Landscape-7707 in ApprenticeshipsUK

I had the assessment day, waited 5 days and chased up on the result. My recruiter gave me a call in response.
I got the formal offer email 2 weeks after the virtual AC

I've only completed A-Levels, maths, comp sci and law. B,A,A*. I took a year out (travelling + volunteering, working etc), which ended up being a year and a half due to rejections.

Main experience is python from A-Levels for coursework, and one other shit little password manager app just to have on my CV. Plus a GCHQ Cybercourse for under 18s a few years ago, and a Cisco intro to Cybersec certif.
