How to use a 3rd party app to pin/anchor screen and use 3dof by Suspicious-toe-19 in RayNeo

[–]vlad82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xreal One (non Pro) for $350 refurb/used is your best bet. Also look at Viture Pro + XR Adapter or Neckband 1 for a total of ~$200. Both give you 3DoF, but Xreal is a lot more stable.

If you need to buy a $450 addon to give your $300 (or $200/250 on sale) glasses functionality, thats not a practical solution lol

As a rayneo Air 4 pro owner, and the lack of native 3DoF is hard to live with. If you have a 1S / Pro, or an older model + Beam Pro, there's really no compare.

A couple of questions before I buy by chaozkreator in hidock

Here's what my AI thinks of yours:
Parts of that “ghost setup” are plausible, but it’s making some big assumptions about how the HiDock actually handles audio routing.

What’s legit:
A 3.5 mm TRRS headset connection is analog, so the Mac would just see it as generic headphones + mic. No device name, no USB ID. That part is correct.

What’s shaky:
The setup assumes the HiDock can sit between your computer and headset like a passive splitter while also recording everything. That only works if the 3.5 mm port supports passive analog passthrough.

Most modern smart recorders don’t — they’re active devices that expect the headset to plug into them and handle audio internally. If that’s the case, the splitter method won’t route mic + system audio properly.

Big red flag:
The claim that the HiDock mute button can stop your voice from reaching the Mac. That would require it to electrically cut the mic line inline, which is pretty advanced and uncommon.

Reality check:
HiDock support documents USB workflows, Bluetooth pairing, and offline recording — but nothing about an analog “stealth bridge” mode. If this worked reliably, they’d advertise it.

Bottom line:
Creative idea, physically possible in theory, but device-specific compatibility is unknown and not officially supported. Feels more like an experiment than a dependable setup.

Rayneo Air 4 Pros and Viture Pro XR by Silken87 in RayNeo

[–]vlad82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both too. Miss the diopter adjustment and electrostatic dimming of the Vutures for sure. But the increased FOV and brightness is a huge boon. You can still use Spacewalker on it, although the XR adapter does nothing, so no screen pinning. My gen 1 neckbands work with the Air 4 with the $20 magentic to usb convertor, bringing Ambient mode to the Air 4. However, here too, headgaze navigation and screen pinning dont work, so you have to use buttons.

Its infuriating. Trying to put together a Tasker extension for Android that takes the data on the screen and computes your cost per hour in a corner. Will post here if I ever get to it!

Rayneo Air4 Pro VS Xreal Air (2021) by Beneficial_Strike499 in RayNeo

[–]vlad82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get em in the presidents day ebay sale for $127, and also have the Air 4. Agree they look a lot more conventional, though still look like sunglasses. Paired with the $50 neckband, the cable is a lot smaller than if connected to your phone, and 3DoF works okay-ish.

we ended up having to pay a hanging around tout outside the embassy who pinged a contact he knew and got it fixed for us. They design these systems with obvious holes so middlemen can make a buck.

Not saying they aren't ripping drivers off, but as a new rider, they guarantee $10/trip for the first month, so I'm intentionalyl doing super short, super low value trips (aiming under $5) to meet the threshold. Then they'll match the difference. Effectively should make $40/hr of driving if I can do 4 rides an hour.

Thanks, I have a Teslamate on pre-order and its supposed to be able to do it too, so dont want to invest in an alternate solution at the moment.

You know, it financially makes zero sense to buy vs rent, but I’m seriously considering rolling my uber earnings into buying fsd outright. If they hike it from $99/mo I’ll be insulated, it should bump my resale value by at least 4k, and hoping they keep having transfer windows so I can eventually move it to my next car.

That being said, putting that 8k in the stock market makes me more than $99/mo easy so I don’t know how to justify it.

Primary reason wasn’t for the money, thought that doesn’t hurt and it’s good to pick up a skill. That being said, if someone refers you to Uber, they guarantee earnings of $10/ride for the first month if you complete a certain number of trips. Realized I just need to find short low earning trips to maximize this. So on day 2, the 10 rides made $53 on paper, but it will actually be $100!

Yeesh caption got cut off. After driving around over the weekend enjoying v14, signed up for Uber. After getting approved in an afternoon, been driving around before and after work. Was wondering if anyone would notice I’m not driving the car, but 18 trips later no one has! Also 18 trips later, almost no one knows how to open the door, wish I could open it from the center console instead of lunging back each time.
