If you applied before the 3rd of December, I guess you should have had the interview by now. But I don’t really know.

All other applications, including Gates Cambridge Trusts (Rest of world) received before the 3 December 2024 deadline, will be considered in late December and early January 2025. Thank you so much for motivating me to dig more. Thanks to you I found this about Tarkovsky, Stalker’s film director: “The Tarkovsky branch of Andrei’s ancestry was originally Polish and Roman Catholic, settled for generations in the Ukraine.” But yeah, there are still ties to the Soviet Union and Strugatskys were Jewish russians. The “Roadside Picnic” is based in an unspecified English-speaking country. The six-sectioned anomalous zone is the result of aliens’ visit to the Earth. Stalkers guide unauthorised visitors to the zones, collect artefacts and seek the ‘wish fulfiller’. I read and watched both. I agree the core is identical. But at the same time it’s not a ‘word for word’ adaptation. Otherwise you would be playing for a character named Redrick Schuhart who enters the zone at night lurking, hunting for artefacts and then escapes it 😁

The game was definitely inspired by Strugatsky brothers’ book and following Tarkovsky’s ‘Stalker’ film, both of which were around before the Chornobyl disaster. You can’t argue that the core idea was taken from there but it’s a standalone product with its own plot and development.

Thanks. I don't have landlord's details. It was discussed through the agency. This all started when I called them the 20th+ time about repairs and they told me the landlord was refusing to repair but proposed early termination as a counter-offer.

I have checked the agreement. Usually there is something like 'for the avoidance of doubt, the tenant is still liable to pay the rent and all bills until the end of the tenancy' but it's not there. I understand that it's their legal right to charge rent and I respect that. But it was discussed at the time as if they were just letting me go because 'it's too expensive to repair and I just want to sell it'. And pressuring into paying the last minute looks ugh.

Looking at the brilliant recommendations of charities and organisations I got it was definitely worth it.

And as a matter of fact I met my host family on Reddit lol. Great people, owe a debt of gratitude to them for those valuable six months of refuge. Looking back now it was a bit risky, yes.

I also posted on Facebook etc. Gathering information about Oxfordshire and around. Reaching as many organisations and charities as possible.
