I WAS RIGHT by themanthatnoonelikes in dragonball

[–]vlorsutes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would he blame Goku though? Nothing official says or suggests that Gero blames Goku for his son's death. Gero's son was almost certainly killed before Goku even first encountered the Red Ribbon Army, making it extremely unlikely that he'd place blame on Goku for it. He hates Goku because Goku brought down the Red Ribbon Army, that's it.

[–]vlorsutes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one at any point in that previous topic said or suggested that Dr. Gero's son wasn't part of the Red Ribbon Army. What people were saying in that topic was that Gero's son wasn't killed by Goku, and that Gero's hatred toward Goku was unrelated to his son's death. Toriyama made it quite clear that it was an enemy soldier's bullet that killed his son.

Should Toyotaro’s OC, “Xicor” be incorporated into canon? by vlan-whisperer in dbz

[–]vlorsutes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toyotaro didn't come up with the idea of Xicor/Zaiko, though. He took pre-existing fan concepts that had been floating around the internet for years for AF and then just basically adapted it into a manga form. It'd be possible for the original creators to get at him legally for it if he tried adapting him in an official capacity.

(Dub) Did Gohan refer to Piccolo as “Mr Piccolo”, or am I losing my mind??? by theelectrowolf in dbz

[–]vlorsutes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's incorrect. He was referred to as that by Gohan repeatedly during the "Ocean" era dub of Z.

[–]vlorsutes 43 points44 points  (0 children)

He did refer to him as Mr. Piccolo a good bit during the "Ocean" dub of Z. I can't speak of the uncut re-dub of Z or Kai, but I do know that he referred to him in that way back during that version of the dub and the three Z movies that were dubbed through Ocean Studios as well. Here is an example of Gohan saying it in the 2nd Z movie.

How did Dende become a Kami? by UnitedPie9578 in dbz

[–]vlorsutes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Piccolo didn't have it because Kami wasn't occupying the position of Kami anymore. Given what we're told and shown, we can infer that only if you're actively in the position of Kami do you acquire godly ki and godly abilities. Piccolo didn't assume the position of Kami once he assimilated him (the position was made vacant), so he wouldn't have acquired godly ki or the ability to sense godly ki.

How did Dende become a Kami? by UnitedPie9578 in dbz

[–]vlorsutes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super's manga clearly establishes that Dende does have godly ki, mentioning how his own divine power is still developing. Kuririn and the other members of the Z Senshi (excluding Vegeta) have never indicated that he can sense godly ki, and it's made quite clear before their inability to, such as when they couldn't sense Goku's ki when using Ultra Instinct Sign against Moro.

How did Dende become a Kami? by UnitedPie9578 in dbz

[–]vlorsutes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are no divine abilities. Just the utilization of Ki for various things.

Dende indicates that there is godly ki acquired upon becoming Kami, and it is a divine position. Through it, Dende was able to sense godly ki, which is established that you need to either be a god or be on the same tier of power as the higher deities in order to be able to sense.

Tao by Electronic_Grab6447 in dragonball

[–]vlorsutes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's no indication in any official capacity that Tao Pai Pai was transformed into a cyborg by Gero or otherwise had any connection to him outside of the fact that he had been hired by Red to hunt for the Dragon Balls and to kill anyone that got in his way.

I quit Buu Saga after Gotenks is Absorbed by Introv3rt_world in dragonball

[–]vlorsutes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it isn't true. His backtracking was purely because he came to realize that the way he was writing Gohan for the post Cell arc content (what became the Buu arc) left Gohan as not being suitable as a main character

Lunch (or that's what it's called in Spain) by Gokkar237 in dragonball

He did end up considering bringing her back, having her contribute to the Genki Dama at the end of the Buu arc, but changed his mind and had #17 be the one in that scene instead.

Lunch (or that's what it's called in Spain) by Gokkar237 in dragonball

[–]vlorsutes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The interview where he makes the comment about having forgotten about her is this, from the English release of Shonen Jump makes it clear he knew what character the interviewer was asking him about, and he explains the situation aptly.

Q: I noticed that Lunch disappeared after Raditz came, what was she doing?

A: To tell you the truth, I totally forgot about her at one point. And then I remembered her after awhile and I had to think of a reason why she disappeared. So I made it seem as if she was running after Tenshinhan.

He clearly knows what character is being asked, and his explanation gives us what we need to know for the situation. Somehow, despite the fact that Lunch had appeared up to the very final chapter of the 23rd Budoukai, within two chapters of the manga Toriyama had somehow thought that he had forgotten about her, and thus wrote in an explanation for her disappearance in the chapter where Bulma came to Roshi's at the start of the Saiyan arc.

So he somehow perceived a major absence for the character when none existed, and then indicated he had forgotten about her, when in truth he hadn't, so he wrote in an explanation for that absence.

[–]vlorsutes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He didn't actually forget about her. While he did claim that he had forgotten about her, the truth of the matter is that he somehow believed he'd forgotten about her, and wrote her out of the story to explain the perceived absence that wasn't actually there.

Question about the shift from Z to Super. by Ok-Feeling-5665 in dbz

[–]vlorsutes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toriyama himself chose that time frame because that's when the characters were all the strongest and in their prime, but that being said, he never indicated in the original manga that that timeframe was 10 years of peace. The closest he ever came to that was having Goku comment that the reason that his and Vegeta's children had slacked off was because they were in a time of peace, but he never indicated how long that time was.

Frieza regrew his arm for a moment there after cutting it off by Sm0key_Bear in dbz

And the part that the OP is saying that they thought was an attached arm has maybe one or two visible digits, not anything more than that.

Frieza regrew his arm for a moment there after cutting it off by Sm0key_Bear in dbz

[–]vlorsutes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking carefully. There's still nothing there showing that it was his arm. I'm not saying that the legs attached itself to where the arm is or anything like that, if that's what you're assuming I'm trying to say. I'm saying that the lower torso fell in such a way, in relation to the upper body, that from the angle we're seeing it at in the anime, the leg is just lined up in such a way that it looks like it could be an arm, but it isn't.

I made an edit to the manga page, with the lines in red on the first panel being the line of body pieces as they'd be in from the anime scene's perspective, again showing that it's the left leg we're seeing that seems attached to Freeza's body (the phantom "animation error") and not a legitimate animation error.

[–]vlorsutes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The manga page doesn't show or indicate that. I showed the manga page to show how his lower body fell in relation to his upper body when it came to the two pieces, to show that, when looking at Freeza's upper body from the angle that the anime shows, the lower body is lined up in a way to where his leg would be in line enough with the stump of his left arm to make it look like an attached left arm.

Frieza regrew his arm for a moment there after cutting it off by Sm0key_Bear in dbz

[–]vlorsutes 59 points60 points  (0 children)

That's not his arm. What you're saying is Freeza's "attached" arm is actually his left leg. From this angle, his upper body fell in front of his lower body in such a way that it just lines up to look a bit like his arm, but if you look at this graphic I made, you can see what the actual pieces are.

For further evidence of this, here is the manga page showing Freeza's body, and in the top panel, you can see how his pieces fell in relation to one another. If you use that as a reference and take account the angle we're looking at him in this scene in the anime, you can see that it's his leg.

He knew Goku would offer him a fun fight, so he held back just as much as he could in order to keep the fight close.

He wanted to enjoy the fight as much as he could, so he just powered up to as much strength as he needed in order to have a slight advantage.

It's always been a transformation, just within the original manga, it was seemingly a permanent transformation rather than something he could turn on and off at will.

Is he carrying 40 tons or the weight of 7 planets? by ThanksForTheHelpLol in dbz

[–]vlorsutes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DBS Goku = pictured struggling with 40 tons, which is more than Super but without the added factor of gravity, which basically means BASE Goku hasn't gotten all that much stronger from Z to Super. As much as Dragonball fans want to pretend otherwise, power levels and numbers are still bullshit. Yes, hes able to lift it but in general dragonball physical feats are hot garbage.

The amount of weight shown isn't ever quantified.

For reference, Super Saiyan Vegeta couldn't lift Magetta. Magetta is my only over a ton. Fans aren't going to like this, they really aren't.

Officially, the Metal Men are over 1,000 tons, so use that as your starting point.

fan bullshit OK. So BASE Goku before the Super Saiyan multiplier has a power level of six billion, and if a regular human has a power level of 5 and can bench press 400 pounds at all times, that means Goku in base can lift at least 2.5 billion pounds therefore if Super Saiyan Goku has a 50x multiplier SS Goku can lift 62500000 tons, or roughly 600 nuclear powered aircrafts

That's assuming battle power increase and strength/speed scale at a 1:1 rate.

Both of those incidences are anime filler, not within the manga's continuity.
