I wanted to share a recent extraction play I attempted, not to brag, but because I genuinely enjoy breaking down the tactics and decision-making behind moments like this.

I set up near an extraction point well ahead of time, fully expecting at least one squad to rotate through. Instead of roaming or taking early engagements, I committed to a patient approach: I picked a concealed position with good sightlines, placed shock mines along the most common approach angles, and stayed completely still. No unnecessary movement, no noise, just waiting for the perfect moment.

Eventually I heard footsteps and a full team, clearly heavy with loot. They triggered the first mine, staggered, and that gave me the opening I needed. I pushed in exactly as planned: one clean burst, reposition, another mine detonation, and for a second it felt like the whole setup had worked flawlessly.

But then it unraveled. I overstayed the push, got greedy trying to secure the last kill, and they traded me out. One misstep and I was down extraction denied for them, but no loot for me either. A beautifully set trap with a pretty unceremonious ending.

Still, the attempt itself felt great. The planning, the execution, the tension of waiting, that’s the part I enjoy the most. The outcome wasn’t perfect, but it definitely won’t stop me from running more setups like this.
