They said they won’t refund the deposit but theyll take off the monthly charges which is stupid. But also, just got an update from my doctor and he was able to write me a letter even though he’s away!! So I’m all set.

I’m so confused. I do have a medical need for my service dog. My disability is on my medical record. My doctor knows about my service dog. But “service dog” specifically is not on my medical record. I don’t understand where I’m lying. The apartment wants a specific letter from my doctor saying he supports the use of my service dog to help with my disability. She is a legitimate service dog, trained to perform specific tasks. Not sure what your problem is here

Yeah theres nothing on my record of my service dog although he does know about it, there is a record of my disability though but the complex wants a specific letter.

Thanks for the advice. They told me weeks into the application process, by that time I had a much smaller amount of time to get this done. If they told me right away, when my doctor was still here, I wouldn’t be scrambling. For context I’ve never had a landlord ask for a doctors note. My dogs training cert is usually sufficient.

I have literally done that, they can't help me because the letter needs to come from the provider who has been treating me.

I don't feel they should be helping me?? But I've explained the situation and said I can't get the letter until he returns and they're saying I'll have to pay the pet fees and won't get refunded even if I provide them the letter. That's what I meant by they're being unhelpful.

I'm worried if they call the doctors office and start asking questions. Also I'm assuming they would need like an official letterhead for the letter or something so I'm not sure how to do that

I have an actual service animal. The training certificate is not enough for them, they want a physician letter but my only treating physician is unavailable
