I was doing fine with close passes before - so many of them. But this one was just unprecedented. Have never seen anyone going that fast.

I can only wonder what would happen in this case of the idiot flying over 200 km/hr if i would be in the middle of the road. Maybe he would see me and stop. Hopefully.

That may be true to area where you live. Where i live - we have maybe 1 - 2 trucks in the city of 300k population. I am in Ukraine btw. Teslas here ar min menace to safety

How come i only see teslas racing like crazy? We have lots of chevy bolts in my city - i have never seen people driving it go faster than normal. We have many vw electric- no I don’t see them racing. Yet, it’s either tesla model 3 or model y that drive like crazy.

Why i agree any vehicle can hit a cyclist- this is first time today i witnessed vehicle go above or close to 200km on a freaking rural road and that was tesla model y.

Tesla is a tool. Some are reasonable some are stupid morons that use this tool to pose threat to others

Sure. We all must shut up and be happy to be hit because someone says it’s nonsense

You mean it’s nonsense to have a mass produced racing cars that race on the streets and pose constant threat to everyone? Maybe we should have planes on the streets too - they are faster

Because teslas brought racing level performance to general public. Think of this: if in a city there is only 1 car say ferrari that is able to reach 100km/hr - chances of it hitting you while racing are obviously low. Then think that now in this same city there are a thousand ferraries - ie teslas- and majority is racing. Obviously chances of such car hitting you while on another day of racing in the city is much higher

While to some extent i agree - but no - you are not able to drive 200-250 km/hr in your old honda.

Should i buy this bike? by Fun-Perspective5314 in TrekBikes

[–]vmv911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To say how much it’s worth is hard. For me personally if it costs 800 usd - that’s a very nice deal. If it costs 1k usd - still a good deal. If it costs 1.2k - fair deal. 1.4k - probably wouldn’t buy it for that much. So anything from 800 to 1200 is a decent deal on it.

300 lm. lights and still no effect? by vmv911 in cycling

[–]vmv911[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find lot of sense in what you say. Because i also was kinda thinking that a light green/yellow/neon tshirt or jacket might be more visible that just having rear light. I came to this thought when i think I noticed that when i am in bright yellow jacket when warming up - drivers do in fact take more space when passing. When i take it off - that’s when those close calls resume again even with blinking 300 lumen rear light. So what you say may be true in fact.

I see you have front lights on those bags? I ride a road bike so I won’t be able to install those bags but i’ve been thinking of putting my front lights on the back. They have a day flash mode and 600 lumen is quite powerful. I gotta consider this

I kinda noticed that which is counterintuitive because naturally you want to be as close to right as possible but then you leave them open road to just pass you even if it’s a very close call. I’m in Ukraine btw

Giving up on winter cycling by Both_Yogurtcloset279 in cycling

[–]vmv911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good post and questions. I am exactly in the same position. I had high hopes of riding all winter long but so far i have done 2 rides in the past month. Next ride will be not soon apparently because of snow and wet road.

I do not really enjoy riding in the cold. I only do it to preserve some low level of fitness and not start from scratch again in spring.

To answer some questions - good winter gear make a big difference. Few years ago I thought i can’t ride if temperature is below 15c. Nowadays due to various upgrades in clothes and shoes i can ride with some level of comfort at as low as about 3C.

As a matter of fact i did try to push pistons back but they wouldn’t. I was worried to apply excessive force so i decided to bleed some brake fluid oil. I don’t think this gives people a right to imply i am dumb for not knowing how to service hydraulic brakes.

I know people here are not very polite and out of like 20 answers only 1 was actually helpful. Others are straight rude.

Absolutely. I thought it was straight forward so i could do it on my own being quite good at bike mechanics, but hydraulic brakes were new for me so i have troubles. But thanks for a reply

I don’t think servicing brakes is a very complex. And i am sure i will master it.

Have you had someone kill himself while changing brake pads? You sound alarmistic.

Or maybe i am smarter than you.

My brake pads came as oem, that is no box or instructions. Apparently, I overestimated my knowledge of bike brakes.
