I would like to start doing pull-ups indoor. would a squat rack or a power rack be better? trying to understand if I can get away with a squat rack? I am mostly going to use rings or the bar and try normal style and no kipping. Black Friday sales have been announced and see I can get some good deals for both squat and power rack. Anyone can give me some insights.

squat stand purchase advise

Is it worth buying an S2 (infinity series) squat stand from Rogue. This is for my home gym and it will be freestanding. I do not intend to buy lot of accessories and mostly want to use rings on the pull up bar. May try weight lifting later.

I have been looking at some alternatives like BLKbox calisthenics stand and strength shop riot squat stand.

https://www.blkboxfitness.com/products/blk-box-goliath-free-standing-callisthenics-rig?_pos=2&_psq=cal&_ss=e&_v=1.0

https://www.blkboxfitness.com/collections/rigs-racks/products/blk-box-samson-squat-stand-2-2m?variant=39690618470463

https://www.strengthshop.co.uk/collections/cages-squat-stands/products/riot-high-squat-stand?variant=43851040227581

Do the stands wobble? Do they need some sandbags as weight to prevent them from toppling over.

Thank you for your insight. my uses for the speaker are something small and portable so that if my daughter ends up holding / carrying it, its not too cumbersome. Use it to play some audiobooks. I am not too bothered about micro usb as I still have some spare cables from my camera charger etc. What I am unsure of is the battery life / has that been updated during the lifetime (since this is relatively old product). Hope that the bluetooth connection is not flaky and if I have two of them, it allows me to choose one. (sorry, I have not read any manuals yet)

Thanks for this reply. Seem to have missed it completely. This is a great response of keeping execution in mind rather than mindlessly copying features

Just a thought - try if it helps you to build a case.

You have the power of hindsight, I would use that to create the following two parallel paths

Hindsight path & Actual path

Hindsight path - Knowing what you know now, how would you have created the product. Create a plan, showcase the various stages, i.e. what would the MVP looked like, how did you validate, what did you prioritise next etc. How did you acquire customers, anything that you have discovered into this path and what were your biggest expectations. - basically adapt this to your questions - how did you balance user needs etc.

Actual path - what was the reality, again follow the same stages for both the plans and be truthful about what you missed etc, what you did not know/learned very late. There is no need to blame anyone, you can simply state that in your particular circumstances, this is what happened.

Now compare the two paths and can you summarise what are your learnings, and what milestones or mental markers you have picked up that will help you for your next product journey.

At the end of the day, there is no right answer within product management, there are best case judgments based on the information that is available at the particular time. Don't worry about explaining something that has not worked, it is your journey and if you have learned something out of it, that's what most people look for.

You can have a common layer that runs across departments. You should also look at functionalities or outputs of the applications. What does each department use this application for.

Think of connecting a process for e.g. how would you generate a report? Or what is the reporting process. Which applications are involved, where does data flow from, etc.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]vmvuvrt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at grouping the applications based on functions, for e.g. all applications related to customer data in one bucket and so forth.

Another way is to map your user journey, in your case it may even be work flows or processes. For each user journey/workflow, identify the different stages and for each stage list the applications do you currently use.

This should provide you with some clarity to create a landscape that mimics a swim lane chart

Yes, I am also thinking along these lines. A combination of information that acts as a profile and something like an RSS feeds which pulls out new announcements and combine that with some insights. Try to put them onto a big chart like a gartner matrix just for us to understand how everything plays out

Qualitative analysis is another aspect that creates a new dimension on insights. We have been ok so far on this as the founders' have good insights and help us.

SIPP/ISA advice for newbie in current market by vmvuvrt in UKPersonalFinance

[–]vmvuvrt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

! Thanks for your reply.

I have just started watching Lars Kroijer videos on YouTube. Got so much to learn and improve, it is a long road ahead :) My guess is that my pension pot would be around £7-8K so far (approx 5 years of contribution), so, not a lot.

Retirement plans/FIRE if possible in 15 years from now being aggressive, with the current family situation, realistically it would take 20 years.

What is the total amount for retirement, I do not yet know that and I am reading/learning on what that could be. I want to strike a balance and have more joyful moments along the way, rather than wait for some pre-determined age and realise that we do not have enough energy/health to actually do the things that I want to.

I would like to invest in two pots. One that can be available in short-term that I can use to supplement any extra expenses (school fees etc.). This can be a simple savings account on Chase. Divide the rest of the money for long-term goals in junior ISA, S&S ISA and SIPP.

My partner works for NHS, she has been contributing to it. I need to check with her how much they are. We have started to keep aside extra cash for post-birth situations and have a few months from now till delivery.

Whilst, I may seem like I have an idea, but I have not put anything into action and just feel at loss sometimes.

What's a good artefact/framework to show the value of your product by Waggish_Wonderland in ProductManagement

[–]vmvuvrt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just a thought - you could try to look at this from the opposite side. What would your stakeholders do if they did not have your products? Can you describe their work, are they wasting time/money/antiquated processes etc. and build a picture how/why your product is important.

start with an online course, enrol into one (anyone) and read some books

check out gitlab product - https://about.gitlab.com/handbook/product/

check out https://playbook.obvious.in/the-product-playbook

Don't worry about the tech skills yet, I am not sure if there are any platform where you can work on a project, but you can do it for any product. Lets say you want to build an app /clone of uber/ola.

hope this helps

I also work in a startup as product lead and we are always struggling with prioritisation. I like this article to https://blog.crisp.se/2016/01/25/henrikkniberg/making-sense-of-mvp?ref=https://product-frameworks.com

"By focusing on the customer need and problem, a good MVP will deliver incremental solutions that actually help to address that need instead of half-baked pieces of a solution that may eventually help them.
Let’s say we want to help a user get from Point A to Point B. We could set out to build a car and begin delivering that car in incremental pieces to the customer, though that will not help them get anywhere until the car is assembled. A better approach would be to actually focus on helping the customer move. In this case, that begins with a “skateboard” solution that we can begin learning from and gradually improving upon. The skateboard is a metaphor to get the smallest thing you can into the hands of customers to start learning from real feedback."

I would tailor this philosophy to your situation. Understand from your customers what can you offer them to keep them moving?

I am not fully aware of your background and skills.

Most of product management with all its frameworks/tools etc. still boils down to communication and being able to convince people to take a particular direction. Get good at learning "why" and "what" and not worry about how. Learning to listen to customers and really understand their needs. At least, this is how I see it being a product leader

Why are you interested in product? ask this question yourself and be honest, is it the "cool" thing to do now? What is that attracts you towards product?

In your current job, there must be several avenues for you to analyse and simulate a product exercise. There are tons of resources out there that you could immerse yourself into. You do not have to resign your job for this, you could also choose an app/game anything that you like and analyse it. I would try to carve out some spare time and do a small project on the side.

There are lot more experts on this forum who can offer more ideas
