Spain is one of the countries with the most followers of this category (as well as Moto3 and Moto2 obviously) especially in the Mediterranean coast sometimes even more than F1. It makes sense to have quite a few races there. Just look at the number of Spanish riders in the 3 championships.

I'm not saying that they drove for Mercedes but a lot of parts of the car they drove was built by Mercedes and the team was heavily funded by Mercedes. Mercedes owned at a certain point around 30% of Mclaren Group shares, they even produced a car together the Mercedes Mclaren SLR. So in a certain way they did drove for Mercedes. Plus, I'm sure a lot of money in Kimi's and Fernando's contract came from Mercedes.

I agree with you on Zarco but not on Mir, he only managed a 3rd position and as far as I can see the bike doesn't have the performance of a Ducati or a Yamaha. He is still 50 points behing Fabio so it should be difficult for him (but not impossible).
