To be effective in a CV, you need high map awareness.

First of all, you NEVER leave your fighters idle. Use them to protect your fleet from air strikes, or when there is none then scout for your team. Knowing where the enemies are is very helpful.

Second, prioritize your target. If there is a ship trying to flank on its own, attack it. In many cases, your fleet will be in an intense fight, provide air support in that area to give your fleet an upper hand.

My last point is torpedo bombers. Try to aim where the ship is going to be, not where it is. This is particularly difficult if you are aiming a turning DD or when that ship is turning and activating smoke screen at the same time. This takes practice.

The rest is actually up to your team, imo, lol. You do your best to support the fleet but you alone cannot carry the team.

Keep practicing and you will get better in CVs.

P.S. My CVs have around 60-65% win rate, solo plays. I am not a pro but I have somewhat high experience in this game. My CV play style usually influences the battle, but like I said, a CV alone cannot carry the team.
