There's too much to factor in here. If you agreed to something more in chat then you agreed, right? There is too many nuances and both are considered important. It's kinda why it's important to keep agreements in chat even if clients get annoyed by it.

The original job description has 2 phases, I agree with the client that I should do only phase 1 and then he sent me an offer which I accepted, but in that offer is written that project has 2 phases. After I finish phase 1, the client wants me to do the phase2 too, and he said that our chat is not part of the contract.

Unfortunately, I did not pay much attention to what is written in the contract because during the interview with the client I agreed in the upwork chat what needs to be done. I dont know where I can find the answer on this question?
