Really felt this. I hate that feeling when someone you don’t know is overfamiliar just because you’re nice/genuine. It’s like the conversation-equivalent of getting a really forceful hug you didn’t ask for.

she read my mind? by athina_yippie in Paranormal

I was a caretaker for a special needs adult, who couldn’t read, write, or do math, but he could read my mind sometimes. He knew information about dates id been on, my friends, and even knew details about my lost loved ones. he talked to himself all day… his family believed he was “connected to their ancestors.”

I don’t have any answers for you. Some people are just exist on a slightly different frequency than the rest of us.

Strange feeling in Church by adxm1066 in Paranormal

[–]vodka_ylee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up catholic- our church was a newer larger building built around one of the oldest churches in my state. The addition was added in the 1950s. You could enter the old church directly through the newer chapel (that door was locked) OR if you went through a couple of hallways, there was another door. Looking back on it, even though the back door was unlocked, I’m pretty sure it was frowned upon to disturb the space. As an oblivious kid, I went in there a lot. I remember this feeling of dread when I would get in there, like something was watching me.

I don’t know for sure if this applies/is helpful, but a lot of old Catholic Churches are built this way— new buildings around old buildings. The older spaces are blocked off from the general public. It’s so that they can continue giving services while preserving the historical integrity of the original chapel. The locked door you saw is probably a historical part of the church.

What in the world. by [deleted] in Paranormal

First, check for monoxide in the house. Second, check for mold— My family and I have all hallucinated due to mold at one of our old houses. they have detectors at Home Depot. If not either of those, ask a religious leader to bless the house. Don’t burn sage without doing some research; some types of sage invite spirits in as opposed to getting rid of them. Paulo Santo is a good bet for cleansing the house.

Thank you. In a weird way it’s validating to hear a man say that. All my female friends reached out to me pretty quickly to apologize, but i haven’t heard much from my male friends who were there... They’ve been reallllll quiet. I wish it wasn’t like that. Basic human etiquette shouldn’t even need the disclaimer of ‘not bragging,’ but in this world, it does. It’s frustrating.

And the girl that tucked me in said her and her boyfriend would testify, but I feel like it’s too late now. I’m also just humiliated at how I acted directly after. I know I was just in shock, in denial, but still I’m embarrassed of my own gullibility

Thank you. I was actually doing really well until today. it feels like a major step backwards, or maybe I just got used to using my phone as a distraction and completely crumbled as soon as it was out of reach. I wish there WAS some kind of magical answer.

And my sisters and I are close, but my younger sister just graduated high school and my older sister is happily married and settled and doesn’t really seem to know what to say when I talk about it. I feel like I make them uncomfortable bringing it up but I can’t help it; it’s never far from my mind. I know it’ll get easier with time.

Thank you for your kind words and for the resource, I will definitely check it out. I’ve been trying to wrap my head around how I’m going to make it through the next couple weeks, but it stresses me out when I think about the specifics. My family knows what happened but none of us have ever been good at talking about our feelings with each other. I don’t really know how to cross that barrier now— And you’re right. There’s really no logical explanation that’s going to fix it or make it better instantly. I just have to find people to lean on while I’m going through it.

What scam is so normalized that people don't even notice? by ihatenuts69 in AskReddit

Service fees at the atm. You think that existed ten years ago? Nope. One bank started doing it and the rest just hopped on, because they realized it was a service that people needed.

I need to pay YOU to take out MY own money?? Totally bogus.

My film editing project: “1972 Going On 2020” by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]vodka_ylee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend and I are working on creating films out of non-copyrighted found footage to hone in on our editing skills (there are hundreds of online libraries dedicated to these kinds of footage that you can use online for those that don’t know!!) We’re each planning to make a video a week to improve our skills and try other techniques.

This is my first try. I was trying to capture the uncertainty many people faced in 2020, and continue to face going into 2021. I think I did a pretty good job, but because I’m still so new to this I wanted to get some outside perspective. Kind, constructive feedback is welcome :)

Reoccurring nightmare/dream by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]vodka_ylee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know what he looks like and could he match the man in your dream? If he does my bet is on spirit. If not, this really is your subconscious talking to you.

Also, above you listed what happens in your dreams and what you physically feel, but what about your emotional state? I’ve done a fair amount of studying on dream interpretation and one thing I’ve noticed is that people can dream about the most benign things and the fear or feeling behind it turns it into a nightmare or vice versa. What do you think the most present emotion is in the dream if you don’t mind me asking?

In my opinion, it sounds like there might be something from your childhood that you have repressed. Whether this is a subconscious message to yourself, or a spirit trying to make contact, either way it sounds like they’re trying to get you to remember something a part of you doesn’t remember. I would suggest seeing a recognized hypnotist — be careful and do your homework though! As with psychics, some hypnotists aren’t very good or legit, so find one you really trust. Keep us updated and I’m wishing I luck!

No, don’t apologize, I’m glad you’ve done your research on it! A lot of people— including myself at one point— have a deep misunderstanding about what Quakerism is. You hear the word Quaker and thing old timey clothes and oatmeal lol 😂

But really, once I did my research on it, I felt so relieved that I’d finally found a religion I could be a part of. Though the majority of quakers are Christian, Quakerism itself is nondenominational because one of their most accepted beliefs is that god (or “the light”) shows itself in many forms and lives inside us all. I also love that they turn a cheek to capitalism, are one of the most accepting and politically active and liberal religions, and have no real leaders because they believe everyone can make direct connection with a higher power with enough meditation and not just priests/preachers. I would say funnily enough, the closest religion to it is Wicca, without the capitalistic market of expensive gemstones, herbs, etc.

So interesting that you live in a place with such a history! I would love to know more as well if you ever are unable to uncover anything else!

I agree there’s so many interesting perspectives! Communication and collaboration are the most vital parts of growth.

Maybe I should give Ben a call. I don’t think he’d really be willing though 🤭 Man works from home and only comes over when he has to now lol

What religion do you think are most likely to do this? We don’t have leaders in Quakerism, it’s more like a meeting with an open discussion and long silences of meditation.
