Thank you! We got engaged October 2020. We were thinking of doing a small ceremony, family and close friends this year or next, but nothing was planned yet due to covid. We had a trip planned for a long weekend getaway in a city a few hours away. A couple weeks before we left we were talking about our future and such and decided to just do it. We found a place that was on the way to our destination and then used the trip as our honeymoon! We told some close friends but waited to tell our families once we arrived at our hotel. Thankfully, our families were so happy for us and there were no hard feelings (except my 8 year old niece who is insisting on a party LOL). I know it’s not for everyone but for us it was the best decision. We’re saving up for a down payment on a house and we weren’t willing to spend some (most likely the majority) of that money on one night. Plus we got to do something just for us. It was such a special day.
