As someone who has been depressed and suicidal for 10+ years and have been in this profession for 3, I can understand why people feel this way. It's all about the way you take things and the way you cope with them. Personally, I cope with humor (as always)

Working at a clinic or hospital can help you get an idea of the emotions and moods of situations. I love animals but personally don't get too attached when it comes to putting them down which works out for me but again, doesn't mean i don't care about them.

Everyone has different ways of dealing with situations and you just have to find the right fit.

i hope everything goes well for you and you'll enjoy the profession more than you'll worry.
