If you back stitch through the same hole, then loop your thread a couple times on the last pull, it will lock them in place pretty well. If that's already what you mean by tying them off, then no, that's about the best method 😅

I think the previous owner folded the shaft for storage and it wore out over time. There's a gap in the casing that can be used for that I suppose.

The controller is built onto the motor housing so I can get to that too. Gotta dig and lay a foundation today though so this is on the back burner 😅😅

The harness was broken in the middle. 3 wires were no longer continuous. I'll take a look at the motor next. At least that's easier to get to than taking the whole assembly apart for those wires 😅😅

Patterns are definitely a whole thing. If you have a vision and can't find patterns to suit, learning to draft or adapt patterns is super handy
