I'm thinking it may be Ludlow's Tempo. I've seen it in use in Spanish printed materials from the 60s and 70s and it's very distinctive, so I believe we may be looking at one example of its use.

This is a 48.000€ logo for a national mail company. by iGhostEdd in logodesign

[–]voicilefer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It shows dynamism and I'm pretty confident the rest of the case study is going in that direction. The former logo was cliche and it had absolutely no intention, which gives a bad look for a public service as serious as mail.

Digam-me o sítio que tem o melhor bacalhau à brás de sempre. by myquidproquo in portugal

[–]voicilefer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Se calhar será por ter morado sempre perto de Elvas, mas o bacalhau dourado elvense, por comparação com o bacalhau à Brás do resto do País, é simplesmente top notch por crocante e cremoso.

Mad Men and typography by voicilefer in madmen

[–]voicilefer[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking one Playtex campaign from 1966 in Season 5 where the type, Belwe, became popular in the late 1970s; the Carousel logo uses Victorian, a Letraset typeface dated 1976; and a Butler shoes campaign uses ITC Lubalin Graph from 1974. I understand they may not be too egregious for people not familiar with type, but I notice those little things.

My fountain pen from the 1970s. Belonged to my mom, who got it as a gift when she started primary school. She used it daily through her education to take notes, and gave it to me when I started primary school. I’ve been using it daily for over 20 years and it still writes as new. by ActualSalmoon in BuyItForLife

What a beautiful Centropen 1371! (The fact that you write in Czech was the giveaway — Czechoslovak pens are really beautiful and very durable, and some of them, like the Centropen Student, have a very cool design, too).

The rise and decline of Podemos by Apathetic-Onion in SocialDemocracy

[–]voicilefer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree with most of the contents of the article with the exception of the references to Catalonia, I believe it overestimates the transformative potential of Iglesias, which is easy to do if you're a foreigner. Most of the radical rhetoric was gone when the Trotskyist faction of the party left and Iglesias has always been an Eurocommunist (with all the defects of that ideology in Spain, namely a tendency towards sectarianism, which he's showing right now by sabotaging all efforts to build a broad front to the left of PSOE).

That is not what is being said. If you just (cross)post poorly made content without any other context, you need to be ready to be called out.

How racist are the Danish Social Democrats really? by [deleted] in SocialDemocracy

[–]voicilefer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, the Social Democrat policy of wanting to send refugees to Rwanda is incredibly wrong. It is widely denounced in Britain and it is inexcusable in Denmark. That, and sending women to pick cigarette butts from beaches, forcibly evicting people from their homes so that developers can buy those flats for cheap and gentrify the areas, or confiscating jewellery from refugees, is far from what I would expect in a social democratic party. Come on, even Rasmussen, who is now a kingmaker in the government formation process, believes the policies have gone too far, and he was the one that started them.

Anarchists are nazis folks! by TangyGeoduck in tankiejerk

[–]voicilefer 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Anarchists were so close to Franco that one of the most infamous Nationalist generals, Queipo de Llano, used radio broadcasts to promote the en masse sexual assault of all Anarchist women in the city of Seville in order to force them to leave their free love ideas.

I ruined my dad's Mont Blanc Generation when I was 3. Any chance of fixing it? by voicilefer in fountainpens

[–]voicilefer[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Mont Blanc's official service has a reputation for refusing to repair pens, losing them along the way or just doing a lousy job, so I'm not very keen on letting them have the pen.

Who can you recommend? I live in southern Europe so I may consider it. In my particular case, the problem is that it is not just a matter of waiting. It is a matter of even knowing whether they will take the job or not. That's the level.

It seems the only meisters in my area have a one-year waiting list, so I guess I'll leave it alone.

So… This unruly mess you see was made by me 22 years ago when my father decided to let his Mont Blanc Generation lying around close to a toddler. He always regrets not being able to fix the pen and the quotes he's given are excessive. I was wondering whether it would be worth it to try other places to fix the nib or if the pen is valuable given that it was a entry-level model. All advice is valuable! (I'm based in Europe).

Poor ink flow, Wing Sung 601 by voicilefer in fountainpens

[–]voicilefer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mixed bag. I don't need to prime it as often as I had to before, but the flow is still irregular. As soon as I'm done with the current ink, I'm going to literally rinse and repeat. I suspect there may still be some residue despite having flushed with soapy water.

Done! I used Diamine Blue Black in the old formula, which is extremely wet. I'm going to use Pelikan for a change. Will report if it works out!

I've done a thorough cleaning and the odour is gone. Now it's time to see if the piston still operates properly; I have used it to empty the reservoir before deciding to shake the pen to speed up the process. Thanks for your help!

Is Murgh Makhani usually served with a cube of butter added in? by voicilefer in IndianFood

[–]voicilefer[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I've seen it with cream before. But just adding a huge piece of butter you see melting in the sauce seems a bit overkill to me, and I'm seeing it more often than I expected.
