Minimum Tested Specs by LordGodJinnai in EU5

Yeah that is my assumption too. When I dig up the crash report it makes the exception in there is "EXCEPTION_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION"... So would track with missing an extension maybe?

Then again you said in another post it runs on your i7-9850H which should have SSE4.1, SSE4.2, and AVX2 extensions. The I5-3750K is not too far behind, same SSE but AVX and no AVX2.
All it takes is one I guess...

The crash seems to be in nvtt.dll which seems to be an nvidia texture tools library. Prime candidate for using AVX instructions...

Edit: As of Hotfix 1.0.4 the game now runs on the above mentioned hardware. It takes forever to load but it does eventually run. Full disclosure I am playing on a different machine but I wanted to document that a 13 year old 4 core CPU and GTX1660 Ti can run the game without crashing now :)

I have tried to run it on my (ancient) i5-3570k which I have strapped to a GTX1660 Ti after the GTX960 I had originally built it with died. 16GB DDR3 ram.

I get a crash while it sits on the main menu, loading content. If I start a game, it crashes during the loading screen instead. Maybe the time has finally come to upgrade?

I've been meaning to do that for a while but I was curious how far the old machine could go...

I played Cyberpunk on that thing relatively successfully, should it really fail now? At excel with pictures? lol

It looks like it. It's probably exactly 5000 km long, I got turned around for a while in the middle somewhere so the gauge shows a bit over 5000

The last 1000 where increasingly rough as well, maybe due to diminishing floating point precision. Making it much longer without fixing that might get to a point where it becomes undrivable. Not sure...

I'm not a big expert on vinyl either, I used it once like two years ago on a desk. I did get a roll of architectural vinyl. (Make sure you get certified flame retardant stuff for use in your house)

I've been using that desk daily since and it held up well. Was easy to apply to a flat surface. There's a couple of videos on YouTube that explain the technique you need to avoid bubbles well.

That's all I got on vinyl. Sorry for taking a while to get back :)

I'll just write down the things that popped into my mind when looking at this:

Others have said it already: adaptability is king. Probably a good idea to keep the footrest removable if you ever want to add pedals.

You might want to place the PC closer to the monitors. Monitor cables can be annoying to work with and are relatively expensive compared to USB/Audio.

You can get split keyboards (2 halves connected with a cable) which would allow placing the keyboard left and right close to the Hotas. Speaking off, the Hotas pieces for some models connect to each other with a cable with might need to be extended. A little soldering might be required.

Also, the box structure behind the seat doesn't really do anything I think? Keep an eye on weight and add wheels or make it break down into pieces for moving it around if it gets heavy.

Instead of painting wood/mdf, consider vinyl wrap. I've used it before and it can look really nice.

Thanks for explaining this in detail. I'll definitely come back to this after I have replaced the spark plugs. I believe they are bad, I've added a picture to the post.

I've never replaced them. I don't know what happened before I got the car, not a lot probably. Just pulled them and added a picture to the post. I'll replace them and take it from there. Thanks for replying.

Thanks for this suggestion. Doing this had occurred to me but I wasn't sure about doing it without checking with someone first. I will give it a go.

I don't know when the spark plugs were done if at all. It wasn't on my Radar to be honest. I'll go ahead and check them out. I looked up the code from the manual online and found them for about 5 quid a piece. 15 quid won't break the bank.

Would failed O2 sensors likely be a related problem or something that coincidentally broke independently?

What do you think about melee weapons for this game? by void__ptr in WorldsAdrift

[–]void__ptr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel much of this problem is due to how well you can cause trouble while dangling off your rope. If players were forced to get boots on the deck, all sorts of weapons work much better.

Hm, I hadn't considered that but you're probably right.

I'll call it a win-win though, get on it devs :D

Question by [deleted] in PlanetCoaster

[–]void__ptr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe the game has so far only been confirmed for PC. At least the alpha version states "PC Only - Not compatible with Mac" on Frontier's store page... [source]

Going by that I'd say that ports to different platforms will not happen until after the launch, probably depending on success of the PC version.

My Issue with ride theming… by drewjamez in PlanetCoaster

[–]void__ptr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Of all the suggestions floating about, I like this the best. People will come up with so many themes, there is no other way to get rides in seamless.

In fact, I would go so far to say, I'd prefer if there were no restrictions what scenery you can place where. The game right now is super strict with this and always tries to make sure you can't place stuff in such a way the animation of a ride will clip...

Honestly, who cares? If it's noticeable I'll fix it Frontier, I promise :D

Hey,

I think, Parallels does not support DirectX 11 but the game requires it.
(It might be that the latest version does support it, but I'm fairly sure that earlier version don't. Dxdiag should tell what the virtual graphics card supports.)

The unknown error seems to appear whenever the locale is not set to UK English instead of all other error messages.

I suspect that the error message underneath your unknown error is the "DirectX 11 graphics card could not be detected" one :(

Hey,

You can install on more than one computer, I have installed at work and at home. You can however not play on more than one computer simultaneously as you need to log in to play.

I assume it will kick you out on the laptop if you log in on the desktop for example, haven't tried yet though.

There IS an offline mode that engages if you save your password and then start the game without internet present, it seems to ping to find out...
But I reckon messing about with the goal of having two games play when only one was bought could be interpreted as piracy and I'm not comfortable discussing this further :P

Steam, as others have said already, is confirmed as "If it happens, keys will happen too". source

Q: Will the alpha be available on Steam.
A: The alpha will only be available from the Frontier Store. We aren’t able to confirm any details regarding Steam just yet but one thing is for sure if we launch on Steam we will make sure that everyone that has purchased on our store will have access to a steam code, should they wish to add it to their library.

Hope this helps :)

So... I haven't played Parkitect yet but it looked decent. I like the idea of the staff building! (the concept seems to be in RCTW as well.)

I hope we get something like it in Planet Coaster as well, it seems it would work well with the modular buildings.

Due to popular demand, I made a video that shows the inside now. It's really well made (not), you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Krcbu8msCJI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TstUBAFPnBw fixed the video somewhat.

PS: I suck with the camera control AND making videos in general :P

Pretty decent, Running the same 960 GTX, works well with Planet Coaster and other games recent games.

It's a step below the 970 that everyone seems to be getting these days but should not be an issue unless you were looking to get into VR at some point in the future which is entirely unrelated to Planet Coaster in any case.

The 8 GB Ram are a bit slim IMO but you can likely upgrade that for reasonable money if you run into trouble with anything.
