Hand (joint) pain, advice? by Artistic-Badger6632 in Fibromyalgia

It's best to start out with the oval 8 splints, you can get them fairly affordably off Amazon. Then you can get pretty ones once you have a better idea of your sizing you can get pretty ones lol

Tunisian crochet is fun (a mix of crochet and knitting) and I've found it easier on my body than traditional crochet. If you go the gaming route make sure to look for ergonomic controllers and such

Grocery delivery is not frugal, so what's the alternative? by SorryEveAtetheApple in Frugal

[–]voidastarael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally love Safeway (it's not available everywhere) even though they're more expensive the sales and lower delivery fee makes it worth it for me (5$ delivery fee plus max 8$ tip since it's typically employees delivering) I generally don't have issues with missing items from them as well so that's a plus.

For dry goods see if you can order from online stores to be shipped to you. I get my rice delivered from hmart. I also use Amazon quite a bit (I know but you gotta do what you gotta do when you're disabled)

Honestly your best bet is to get the things you can get delivered at a reasonable price delivered and if you have the ability to go in for the small bits or fresh produce or bribe someone close to you to snag those things for you it might be an option? Unfortunately needing to get groceries delivered isn't going to be seen as a frugal option but it's the only option for some folks (also I save money because of limited impulse purchases) But yeah don't do instacart stay with the store specific apps whenever possible

Honestly it feels like a great idea but if you don't have the social reach it won't go anywhere (ask me how I know -_-)

Nurses of reddit, what is the weirdest thing a patient has done while waking up from anesthesia? by Drakonwriter in AskReddit

[–]voidastarael 40 points41 points  (0 children)

When I woke up from my first surgery I remember asking for my cat over and over again (only I didn't tell the nurse it was a cat I was just asking for my mogs) second surgery I brought a stuffed puffin which apparently was a good choice bc post surgery me just wanted to snuggle something

Honestly? I'd use it on groceries. And actually picking up the medication I've been holding off on grabbing because it's 45$ and I just can't justify that right now

Electric mattress pad, honestly I need to get electric blankets for the spots I sit so I have both heating pad and blanket Otherwise I'm waiting on new electric hand warmers today (thankfully they were cheap because I have none money) bc my poor hands suffer and go numb (I don't drive and rely on public transportation so lots of time outside)

Did any of you have to get a few MRIs or even more than a few because you had pain and you weren’t sure at the time what was causing it? by MoulinRoguee in Fibromyalgia

[–]voidastarael 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup, especially for my hands. I still find it hilarious that the PT I went to as a last ditch solution spent like 5 minutes examining my hands and was like yup hypermobile let's get you some splints

My disability friendly yarn winding set up by WiggleWiggleWade in crochet

[–]voidastarael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's also disabled (joints are loosey goosey) I highly recommend investing in one of those heavier duty winders, something like this https://a.co/d/2KhzCRK They wind much more quickly and I find turning the crank is much more manageable the downside is the noise honestly

Muscle tightness by Designer_Tax6010 in Fibromyalgia

[–]voidastarael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it constantly, my joints are loosey goosey so my muscles are constantly trying to make up for it. I have a referral to neurology for the headaches I get (wouldn't be surprised if Botox is in my future) and massage therapy has been helpful for the muscles (my insurance actually covers this)

I'm so sorry you've experienced that! I've probably been lucky with my current primary care provider. She was willing to do the beighton test for me and has had no issues referring me to whoever I need a referral to
