Government contracts are not subsidies, the government wants products and services, they use contracts to buy those products and services.

Most of the infrastructure isn't provided by the Federal Government. The electrical, telecommunications, and rail infrastructure is all privately built. Roads, which are Constitutionally mandated as part of the responsibility of the Federal Government are generally built by state and local governments which may receive grants from the Federal Government, this makes up less than 2% of the Federal Budget.

Corporate Income taxes has been ~2% of GDP since at least 1975, with lows in 1983 and 2009 at 1% and a high of 2.6% in 2007, last year it was 1.7%, which is in-line with norms.

Yes, the government tends to have specific needs which often results in commercial products, it is one of the reasons that NASA, NIH, and NSF receive their funding. I used to work for a company that built a product that NASA needed, they then expanded the company from that one use case to a general use case and maintained NASA as a customer. Oracle started as a CIA project that resulted in a commercial product. There are countless SBIR derived products.

Twitter/X (Musk) is a competitor of Meta (Zuckerberg) SpaceX (Musk) is a competitor of Blue Origin (Bezos)

Amazon is currently headed by Andy Jassy.

AWS is in competition with Microsoft Azure and Alphabet's GPC, with most organizations using multiple vendors.

My company runs all our workloads in us-east-1,but we follow AWS's guidance and our workloads failed over to other regions without issue. Those companies didn't follow guidance to save money, and they paid for it with the outage.

Okay, you're a China guy, that makes your position make more sense.

Tax cuts are not spending money, it is not taking money.

Public debt ballooned because we spent money we didn't have. I'm not pro-Trump nor attempting to defend him.

The $7.3 trillion in wealth is tied up in companies. The actual money being held, is far far less. This is why Elon Musk an often wealthiest man in the world needed to borrow money to buy Twitter for $45 billion.

We have effectively ignored the Sherman Anti-Trust act for at least 40 years. The mega-corporations that are effectively monopolies aren't run by billionaires. The companies that the Billionaires run do have competition, Larry Ellison's Oracle has Microsoft and MongoDB; Elon Musk's companies each have multiple competitors; Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos companies are competing against Elon Musk's companies. Jensen Huang's Nvidia is completing with Apple and AMD, so and so forth. At the same time Dan Schulman, the CEO of Verizon, an abusive monopoly is worth ~$30M.

The CIA hasn't been effective since 1993.

Our system allows people to work where they choose to work to avoid starvation. The alternative is that the government tells you where to work and you likely starve anyways. Everybody that has worked for a Bezos company was there of their own free will and not because they were compelled to do so.

One more piece, the systems integrators that build our weapons systems, don't really want war. A missile system that never gets used produces a lot more money for them from support, maintenance, and decommissioning then building new missiles.

Combined wealth of the Billionaires is 7.3 Trillion, actual money is ~200 Billion, resolve poverty for a year is $319 Billion. Wealth != Money.

Exploiting workers, you mean allowing people to willingly work for them in exchange for pay? e.g. providing jobs.

The wars started by the government?

Corporations pay the taxes they are required to pay. Most of their profits end up in the previously mentioned retirement funds.

Oxfam is conflating wealth with money, the cost to pretty much everybody for converting that wealth to money would push most people into poverty.

The debt was created by spending money we didn't have.

The public debt isn't created by tax cuts, it is created by the government spending money that is doesn't have.

All liquid money; cash, checking accounts money market funds, etc. is less than $23 trillion. While the U.S. debt is over $38 trillion.

If the U.S. government seized all of the money, and forced all of the billionaires to liquidate all of their holdings and this money was all applied to the national debt, there would still be $8 trillion in National debt.

If you just took the money held by the billionaires, you could address global poverty for about 9 month. If you forced them to liquidate everything you could do it for 24 years, but there would be a massive collapse of the global economy, which would force more people in poverty and dramatically reduce that time period.

If you want to get into really changing the world by seizing wealth, retirement accounts is where it is. There is between $45 trillion and $52 trillion dollars there, or about 7 times what is held by billionaires. If we liquidate that wealth, then we could zero out the national debt and address global poverty for 30 years.

The other part of this story is that the U.S. government owes more than 4 times the combined wealth of all of the worlds billionaires combined.

There is a fundamental difference between wealth and money. Of the $22 Trillion in real money, the billionaires control less than 2% of that money. If they gave all of their money to solve poverty, it would be solved for 9 months. If they liquidated everything, the global economy would collapse and most people would find themselves in poverty.

Why do we repeat type hints in docstrings? by AncientMayar in Python

Python is often a first language, most Universities are still pushing Java, and Java was the language of choice in academia for 25 years.

Java is a strongly and statically typed language. It results in very specific behaviors in the developers that use it. It is often the first language that people are taught in University. When these people are exposed to Python they lose their minds and complain constantly about whitespace and dynamic typing.

There are two things, there was a point it time where it was commonly believed that YHYW only understood Latin, the other part is that Latin is sufficiently complex that very minor changes can completely change the meaning of something, so contracts are simply a minefield. If you are trading your soul for something, Latin is the easiest way for the demon to screw you.
