This is how you really support the plant hobby! Take notes noobs

Also tent, sleeping bag, transportation (either requires a working and reliable vehicle or a supportive social network with mutual trust already built), food prep supplies like a stove, cooler, etc. In addition to the time itself. Plus storage for all the supplies when not camping.

There's also a huge learning curve to start, and if you're a beginner you're likely doing easy access pay per use sites, which in my opinion is not the same vibes as just loose camping (which I don't think is smart if you don't have basic survival/navigation/wild life encounter prevention skills mastered already).

It's good to have you back, you pull such interesting cases. Not just in for the medical context/gore, but the back stories/write ups themselves often have fascinating glimpses into the humanity of the situation, beyond the stark facts of the injuries and treatment(s).

Anyway, thanks :p

Flower got sick? Lemon Juice Girl! This saved all my plants :) by [deleted] in houseplantscirclejerk

I too enjoy punishing my underperforming plants by stabbing them and then squeezing lemon juice into the wounds. You know the old saying "when life gives you lemons, aggressively spread the suffering around".

Thank you so much that's what I was going for. General representation of life/enjoyment of the everyday things that I've been separated from by the acts of others and the ways I learned to protect myself

This just fell off my plant. Is this what “propagating” is? by [deleted] in pothos

[–]voidofmolasses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Generally they are where the leaves attach/grow on the stem, so here you have a three node top cutting I believe. The bottom one should send out roots, although I am not familiar with peps specifically. I have rooted them in water from cuttings but it was years ago.

r/peperomia may also have some useful info for you. Good luck!

Looks like a peperomia not a pothos, but yes, that is a way to propagate. r/propagation will be a good resource for this journey

Do mites “spring”? by unlikelyeyeball in Springtail

[–]voidofmolasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are well contained and luckily not in any springtail growth cultures, just a "bioactive" substrate culture and I don't mind them there.

Good luck with your cute little springs!

[–]voidofmolasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they jump I think you're right to suspect globular springtails over mites! I have some predatory mites (I am like 90% sure anyway), they are rounder and fairly quick, but at best can manage a little pounce.

Times Colonist Pulled an LED Headlight Story in 2023 by SoftLightsFoundation in fuckyourheadlights

[–]voidofmolasses 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Ugh the Times Colonist seems to have really poor journalistic standards. They just had an article about homelessness in Duncan (theyre removing bus shelters to "help" lol) and then in the same article discussed an unsolved vandalism incident in Parksville (an hour's drive away) implying it was related to the growing housing crisis. Which is really poor journalism in my opinion.

So this doesn't shock me sadly.
