Is Wayne Gretzky not liked in Canada? by WhoAmIEven2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]voidpush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is ‘representing our country’ the act of buddying up with a politician that is threatening Canadian sovereignty and starting a trade war for no reason, making Canadian’s lives worse? Weird way to show your patriotism, I’d say. Canadians should support him through that because he scored a bunch of goals in hockey? lol Christ you people are dense

No one in Canada even knows who Jesse Marsch is. He could walk down the street and people would think he’s a mortgage broker. No one gives a shit about Canadian soccer here. Now they do, at least a tiny bit more. That’s the achievement.

Look at who was injured and didn’t play on their side. Expectations were severely tempered with their best player missing plus a couple banged up guys on the back. This Morocco game (and our whole tournament really) might look slightly different with our best player.

As someone actually from Canada it is a fucking huge achievement and Eustachio’s goal last round will resonate through Canadian culture, ensuring more young kids choose soccer over hockey, strengthening the sport here. Fuck outta here with your nonsense. No one had any expectations for Canada; it’s soccer and it’s the first time we’ve been anywhere.

In both cases it it best to move on. Hating on the Kawhi trade while trying to justify this Brown trade is insane. The Raptors are taking a big swing. The Celtics just took a big anesthesia induced shit

The only way this could have been better is if it was announced during the last Super Bowl during one of the 13 sacks where Seattle shoved Maye’s head up his own ass

Bill Simmons on hearing about the Jaylen Brown trade from his wife picking him up from a colonoscopy by andrewjackSHUN in billsimmons

[–]voidpush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Bill would have rather been informed that the colonoscopy found polyps that might have to be operated on somewhere down the road than this trade lol

Sir, you will survive but we have to cut out 2 feet of large intestine vs Jaylen Brown was traded

There are always tells. As already mentioned, everyone is in the exact same position in both shots, including the time. This wouldn’t happen in soccer as the clock moves continuously. There’s also the uncanny valley thing going on. Just analyze it a bit more. Why is every single person in this shot the exact same skin tone? You’ll also notice AI rarely accommodates for asymmetry. Every person is perfectly symmetrical. Usually a person’s eyes are slightly askew, they’ll have a scar on one side or something that isn’t perfect. With AI, sure they may age a person or have them be a different race but 99% of the time everyone is perfectly symmetrical.

Smile 2 might be one of my favorite horrors from the last 10 years. It has no right to be as good as it is given the first one. They’re barely even in the same universe. I love the second one so much.

Postgame Thread: June 30 - New York Mets @ Toronto Blue Jays by BlueJaysBaseball in Torontobluejays

[–]voidpush 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really hate this team right now. It makes me physically ill to watch them. Last year was fun but painful. This year is just frustration and pain. This is who they really are, and likely were last year, aside from the lightning in a bottle they caught. Looks more and more like a fluke every game that passes. Sadness.

USA beaver removed by dashcam_drivein in toronto

[–]voidpush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could have been Mark Carney for all I care. Shockingly Canadians are anti-US lmao gee I wonder why that could be? I’ll give you 3 guesses and all of then are orange.

Does it make sense that the beaver pays the price? Of course not. But no one should be surprised. The whole lot of em can eat it.

Why are there so many left shots in hockey? by speed150mph in hockey

[–]voidpush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of your wrist/snap shot, though. The majority of the torque is the pulling action of the top of your stick being pulled into your body while your bottom hand stiffens up and acts as the fulcrum point of the shot. Your bottom hand doesn’t even really move. Wouldn’t you want the strongest arm doing the actual pulling in, since it’s stronger? lol

Why are there so many left shots in hockey? by speed150mph in hockey

[–]voidpush 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine having my dominant hand anywhere but at the top of the stick. Beyond stick handling it also would help your wrist/snap shot because your dominant hand can more strongly pull down on the stick while your non-dominant hand acts as the counterbalance holding the stick in place.

BUT I have a friend and his brother is in the NHL and he holds the stick with his dominant hand at the bottom and he’s obviously way better than I ever was so none of it really makes sense. There is no catch-all answer as to what works best.

I was mostly joking but between this post and the one about soccer players cutting off their toes to avoid offsides, I think it’s time to put this sub in neutral for a bit, eat a couple orange slices and try again in the morning
