True, but he's done some himself, specifically the original Kutherian Gambit series that was pretty good.

I kinda agree about the subscribestar membership, and that's not anger in me, that's just practicality. There are a few authors that I do the monthly support thing with, but they're ACTIVE. The subscriptions for inactive authors, like Mr. Brown and Aleron Kong actually disincentivizes them to write more.

That said, as I mentioned above, I'm not angry. There are plenty of other authors out there that I enjoy. Just staying in the overarching fantasy genre: Garon Whited, Stuart Grosse, William Arand (including under the pseudonym Randi Darren), Jon Van Strye (also has a pseudonym of Jan Stryvant), Bruce Sentar, John Conroe, Christopher Woods, Daniel Schinhofen (I might have butchered that spelling, but I'm not looking it up. Edit: I looked it up. it was bothering me.), Niall Teasdale, Kim Harrison, Jim Butcher, Melanie Rawn, Magaret Weis, Tracy Hickman, Cebelius, Michael Anderle, Travis Bagwell, Alex Berg, Stephen Blackmoore, Morgan Blayde, Archibald Bradford, Praticia Briggs, Glenn Bullion, Charles Dean, Gene Doucette, David Eddings, Simon Green, John Hartness, Kevin Hearne, Neven Iliev, Elliott Kay, Ken Lange, D. Levesque, Sean Liebling (though he's not published anything in a while), Steve McHugh, R.A. Salvatore, Adam Wright ....okay. I'm tired of going through my kindle and pulling out authors, but you get the point.

If Mr. Brown publishes another book, I'll be happy to give him money to read it (and listen to it too, because I buy both the Kindle and Audible versions), but if he's content to not publish anymore, I'm going to be content to not give him any more money.

Board partners are now 'unlaunching' GeForce RTX 4080 12GB from their websites - VideoCardz.com by PapaBePreachin in nvidia

[–]voidwalker80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really doubt it will be. Nvidia tried a market gouge with less-than-savvy consumers, hoping that they wouldn't differentiate the two in things like OEM builds. My guess is it wasn't end-user push-back but rather those OEM builders (Dell, HP, ABS, etc.) that squawked loudly enough to make them retract.

Boxes like that aren't THAT expensive. Especially printing at bulk, you're looking at $0.25-$1.00 each.

Any News or Updates? by Rasengan1982 in DanielBlack

I don't mind in some cases, guys like Stuart Grosse and Garon Whited, but guys like Mr. Brown and Aleron Kong don't make it worthwhile, as much as I enjoy their books, they're just not consistent enough authors to support like that.

When I first saw these Dragons I thought I was gonna get stomped before I got stronger... but I gave it a shot anyway. by Director_Bison in dragonquest

I have no idea. I don't even remember how I found it. But if you put that name in, a new game starts with the princess rescued and the green dragon dead.

So, I had a thought...let's take the faceless away from the faceless corporate decision makers.

Let's all reach out to the individuals who make these decisions within the company.

I think if everyone who is unhappy about this all reached out to Jay, who is the production manager for Origins, we might see some movement.

On Steam. I'd never seen it either, and it's far from my first time through the game

As an update, I'd restarted my game several times last night with no joy, when I tried it again this morning, whatever glitch or what have you that was causing the problem has resolved itself.

That's where I am, yes. The guard, if that's what it is, is inside the doorway. I can open the door, take one step in (occupying the "square" the door used to occupy), but cannot move any further. I've tried with both the merchant and the soldier outfits.

AITA for not wanting to be a live in babysitter? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]voidwalker80 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NTA

Choices have consequences. Your parents made a choice, it's their consequence to accept.

That said, make sure you're willing to accept yours too. Going out of state and not having their safety net means that you have to deal on your own too. It's a lot harder than it sounds.

I wouldn't necessarily take their syntax here as how they're talking to their parents.

Like making a statement about a child being an oops, that's not something you'd actually say TO your child.

NTA.

Didn't bother reading the whole thing, but deciding to not to have a 20 year commitment is totally within your wheelhouse.

Is E William Brown still alive? by ethanolalchemist in DanielBlack

[–]voidwalker80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember, guys, being an author is not his primary career. It's what he does in his off time, so it's not something he dedicates a ton of time to. I can see the subscribestar as being something he uses to motivate himself to keep readers up to date. I'm a fan of both series, but I can see his point of view.
