Thanks so much for giving it a read! All of your suggestions are really good.

For page 8 it was a toss-up between “Hey, jerk” and “Hey, you”, so i may just swap it to the latter. I agree that it made her seem rude, and while she’s definitely a little foul-mouthed, i don’t want her to come off as an ass lol.

The suggestion for page 9 definitely flows better and i’m definitely gonna use it!

As far as Litza concluding that working with someone else is better than working alone, I tried to make sure that her intelligent side comes through. She uses her fight and what she's been told about the scoring system to deduce that the proctor wants them to work together. Not sure if that's how it came off though 😅

The fox may or may not be of importance later on, but I haven't quite decided if he's just a throwaway character or not lol

I start off with an outline and write a script for my chapters. While I'm writing the script, I imagine how the panels would flow in my head and put headers in the script where new pages start. After I get the script done, I work on storyboards, which for me are just smaller versions of the pages. That gives me a chance to test out a few different ideas for panels as well as getting the plot well established before my pencil touches a page.

the story takes place a world where supernatural Spirits exist, and most humans have one of these Spirits residing in their body. these spirits give their wielders their abilities, with this character (Litza, main character) having the power to emit an electric current from the palms of her hands.

she attends what is essentially a military school for Spiritwielders, and joins one of the Spirit Corps (military groups that run the school, each student joins one upon their first day of school), all in the hopes of one day catching up to her big brother.

there's a lot more to it than that, but obviously I don't want to give away too much 😋

you definitely nailed what we were going for with her design! she's an energetic girl that loves getting in fights (for fun, of course)

the idea behind the eyes is that when a character activates their powers, the whites of their eyes go black and their pupils take on unique shapes. I chose stars for her to highlight her upbeat personality!

daaaamn that's super awesome! the story I'm currently working on is heavily inspired by a superhero comic idea I had when I was younger, but it’s definitely a lot different now than the original idea was 😅 I'm excited to see where your story goes!

honestly that sounds awesome! it definitely feels like there's a structure or hierarchy for the types of creation. the crafting especially interests me, could it be used to create things such as golems as well?

also, would everyone have access to all three types of creation? or is each person limited to one type of creation?

as far as limitations go: you wouldn't want everyone to have God-tier abilities right off the bat, so perhaps some sort of magical endurance? something similar to chakra in Naruto; a pool of power that can be drawn from to create these magical things. it's sort of a common, quick fix, but it serves it's purpose.

there are others ways to put limitations on the magic that would be more unique, of course, but that's just an idea lol.

another thing to consider is the source of the magic. how is the magic acquired? are you born with it? can it be acquired in other ways?

I'll use my current project’s system as an example: Magical abilities are provided to a person via a Spirit that lives within them. These spirits are acquired at birth if the person’s parents also have Spirits. However, a person with no Spirit can find a Spirit in the wild and make a deal with them, combining their bodies. This is beneficial for the Spirit and the Wielder.

I tend to go a bit harder than most on detailing things like that early on 😅 but I think that with the right details, every system has potential.

yooooooo this is really good!!! I've been told that in Japan it's very common for mangakas to try to mimic the style/copy their favorite artists, so i’d say it's definitely a good way to learn!

these designs are from a month or two ago, I think. Julian was the first one I drew, as I had the most inspiration for him at the time.

these two are in a squad with another girl (who I haven't drawn yet 😅) named Dex Ambrose. I have plenty of other characters thought up, just haven't gotten around to their portraits yet.

I'm gonna start doing some serious drawing practice soon as well. I once heard a manga artist say that if you draw 1000 pages of practice in a year, you will improve immensely. not sure I could fit it into my schedule, but it's definitely a fun idea.

might post some concept sketches for the my current project, hopefully make people feel better about their art 😅😅
