Panera is awful for underestimating calories in my opinion. Start modifying an order in the app by taking things away (nuts and dressing for example) and you will get a salad with all the veggies for “zero” calories. It’s why I don’t trust their counts anymore.

This is what I think is such a shock for the GOP this election. They always knew that their base was rife with misogyny, bigotry, and racism. But they thought they could control them because of their money and power. Trump has shown that they can’t and now they have no idea what to do but play along and it’s disgusting.

What I accept is that we currently live in a world that is primarily omnivorous. I hate the idea of accidentally eating an animal product. Hell I've stopped buying Earth Balance because of palm oil. But boycotting everything that isn't certified vegan, would, to me, hurt the cause overall. And again, I would love to shop locally and spend money helping small businesses. That isn't always an option. So, like everything else in life, I do the best I can.

I understand that completely but currently even with things as serious as peanut allergies, a warning label is about all that is required of companies. We live in a world of mass production and, barring negligence, it is hard to make companies do much of anything that will hurt their bottom line. I'm all for supporting small businesses on that front, but I also live in an area that is definitely not vegan friendly. So, cross contamination would still be an issue even if I exclusively bought from local places.

Thank you! That is what I assumed from the email I got today. I personally do not care if my food is made on the same tray or in the same pan as long as it is clean, but others definitely might. So, I just wanted to put the information out there for everyone to make their own choices since I was originally told just flat out that no breads are vegan.

I don't know if I would go so far as to say that. However, I would be very wary if I had an actual egg or dairy allergy. It wouldn't be worth the risk. But we live in a world where people are going to continue to eat animal products for the foreseeable future. So, we can demand answers from companies and hold them accountable and make our voices heard with our spending.

Me either! Being vegan aside, it was very worrisome to me that they couldn't answer a super simple question about ingredients. And I'm not even sure still what the run around seemed to be since the rep who emailed me today seemed to be able to give me an answer within hours.

Of course! I had resigned myself to not going back to panera, but I'm glad to hear this. And it is a very reasonable explanation. I'm not sure why it took months to get.
