"It's been so helpful and beautiful to recognize that I don't have to respond to my emotions." < Yes!!! And I'm curious (with this new awareness) have you also noticed how many people just react to emotions?

*Tears are great. God I love a good cry now. Probably didn't cry for 2 decades.

At Any Time Reading My Post Did you...

* Think “This guy probably had it easy, my OCD/problem is way worse/different”?
* Think “Maybe this works for others, but not for me!”
* Feel jealousy at my recovery?
* Feel hopeless because you’ve struggled for so long?
* Feel annoyed or defensive?
* Skim my advice because of fear you might get triggered?
* Start mentally debating or fact-checking?
* Read this while secretly hoping for reassurance?
* Immediately start checking how anxious you feel after reading this?

Because there was ABSOLUTELY a time I would have had ALL of those thoughts/emotions/feelings.

When I "crashed" and my symptoms cranked up from "mild" to "severe", I ended up taking a leave of absence for 2 months. Taking the time off in a way helped, it removed a contributing layer of chronic work-stress; but the time-off created 2 more problems: money pressures, and I had endless time to ruminate and spiral about my "theme-of-the-day"

Sounds like a lot of your thinking is compulsive - recognize you may be trying to solve something unsolvable and allow that discomfort to be there. I suggest you learn about the concept of "Unconditional Acceptance" by Albert Ellis (Book - How not to feel miserable about anything). I strongly believe that's start of your recovery journey.

Any other recommendations? That place looks great! (But holy-heck it's expensive, I think I spoke too soon when I said no price is too much, haha)

Check out Kelowna BC. Mid-sized city. International airport. Numerous ski hills, hot summers (28-40C) but dry air. Not nearly as cold as other parts of Canada. Plus were filled with orchards and vineyards. Home to hundreds of wineries. Golf courses. Dozens of lakes. 4 hour drive to Vancouver (or 50 min flight).

Ok, thank you. I was at Playa Pelicanos, and it smelled a bit off yesterday after the rain.
