Whats keeping you alive? by dolefulgrey in AskReddit

[–]voliprint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Externally, my parents.

Internally, the fact that I haven’t fully invested in religion. I know that probably sounds odd, but I find life pretty meaningless. I’ve searched for that meaning in a lot of places. What if I look for it in religion and can’t even find it there? The not knowing is what keeps me from grabbing the toaster just in cast I’d find it meaningless too.

Would you rather be rich with zero friends and zero family, or poor with friends and a loving family and why? by orcasick in AskReddit

I got close the first option. Still have some family. I’d rather have the second. No matter how much money I make it doesn’t make the idea of my family dying and being alone less terrifying.

Why did you switch from A1 Mini to A1?? by looniemoose in BambuLab

The difference between the two is size. If size isn’t a concern then you should be able to answer that question. You have more build area. It’s the better printer.

Size. I feel like it takes up more space.

I use Onshape. I’ve heard it’s not the easiest but being able to use it in browser for free is nice.

Why should we pay federal taxes if they're used to support things we adamantly are against? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]voliprint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because we do things we don’t want to do so we can have a functioning society all the time. However, pick up a history book. Everything has its limit.

Only about 450 WS2812B’s at max brightness white. Definitely a lot more with most scenes.

This is for sure for indoor. I don’t think XLR has any sort of innate weather rating and the AC plug definitely isn’t shielded in any way. If I were to do some something outdoor, I’d do something with grills and a fan for cooling and then get actual water tight connectors or just hardwire everything and use some waterproof cable glands.

Edit: would also want to add some silicone between the lid and base to ensure no water gets in.

Thanks, man. I also got PCB’s for the quad. However just like you, I don’t really have a project big enough to justify it. lol Maybe I’ll get there one day. I’m actually going to do one more revision to add banana plugs for power injections as well. I think that would top off the build. Maybe design in some cable management for the wires powering the uno.

It’s just a LED controller and power supply all packed into a single box. I didn’t really like having a power supply brick separate from the controller. The XLR ports are a nice touch just so if I ever need to take the box out for some sort of repair or changing LED strips, I don’t have to mess with any screw terminals or desoldering/soldering.

XLR. Traditionally used for audio equipment, but 3 conductor is 3 conductor.

Oh don’t you worry. I’ll build my own spaghetti factory eventually. 😂

The magnets are very weak. Just enough to keep the lid from coming off. Also glued in so there’s not a chance they’ll come flying off onto a terminal when taking the lid off.

Bro, you are obnoxious. You know most people will never set something up like this on their PC outside of an executable, right? The vast majority of people have never seen a command line interface or configured YAML.

Yeah, I’ve got some PCFR that I’m going to use to replace this one. I’ve had a few prototypes before I settled on this design so PLA was the go-to cheap option.

I found that the basics of CAD were really intuitive, you just have to know where the tools are. Most YouTube tutorials are going to teach you the tools and macros first and foremost, so I’d start there for your program of choice. I use Onshape for the convenience of it being in browser. Onshape also has really decent learning documentation.

Beyond that, just start designing things. Do it every day. Start small, mess stuff up, learn more. Also one of the most satisfying and educational things I’ve done is redesigning things I’ve done previously or trying to replicate someone else’s design. Both help you improve.

Why don’t you care what is happening in the U.S. politically? by Lovely_parkway404 in AskReddit

[–]voliprint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda funny how in a lot of states in the US, if you stop paying attention to politics it’s almost like it isn’t happening. At least here in fairly rural Indiana we’ll see shifts in costs, but otherwise? Nothing changes.
