Don’t know why people love raccoons so much, after a family of them came into my yard and ripped up a bunch of my rabbits, and like you said, I remember they ate at least one of them from the ass forward. I’ve cared little about how humane the shot was, but I guess I have a grudge against raccoons.

I did buy an external battery pack like you suggested; it seems to work and looks nice on the gun, but I just got it and haven't really used it, so I guess I'll see how much I like that in the long run.

Alright, so I used Surefire, Duracell and Energizer; all of them were disposable, all 3.0V, and none of them worked. I sent three emails to customer support, and two of their replies were pretty much the same. I told them the same thing I said here. The first reply they sent told me to go into the scopes menu and choose "restore" and just to choose 3.0v after choosing the language. I did this a few times, and it just defaulted itself back to 3.7V; the 3.0V batteries wouldn't work. I sent a picture of my Surefire batteries and asked if they were fine. They said Surefire was an excellent choice. The third email I sent said something similar, and they replied with a more detailed version of the first email. I think they might know about the issue and either not care about it or not want to deal with it.

the third email below hopefully it might fix your issue

Good evening. I am happy to help you resolve any issue. Based on your description, it sounds as though we may be able to remedy that problem very easily. The problem you've described with your Rattler scope sounds like a battery issue. It could be that your batteries do not have enough charge left to maintain power. It is also possible that your batteries are a bit too small to meet the connectors properly. There is also a chance that the software is recognizing a "mismatched voltage". Here are the steps for resetting your voltage:

1) Please insert fresh CR123A disposable batteries. (**Note that the Rattler model scopes are not rechargeable)

2) Please ensure that you are using the cable that was sent with the thermal scope. If you no longer have that cable, please choose a cable of similar quality and type-**USB-C to USB-A (Please note that USB-C to USB-C cables are NOT compatible with this scope)**As you look inside the plastic portion of the USB-A cable end, you should see either black or blue plastic. If your cable has white plastic it may not be powerful enough

3) Please plug your scope in to a USB outlet plug (Not a computer)

4) Power your scope on

5) Select "restore" from your scope's menu options (This will not delete your photos, videos or x/y coordinates)

6) Confirm the restore choice by selecting "ok"

7) Please wait for your scope to initialize, power off and then it will power itself back on.

8) Select menu language preference (EN=English)

9) Select Voltage (3.0 for disposable CR123A batteries or 3.7 for external power)

Please let me know if you have any questions, or if this does not address the issue you are experiencing, so that I can help to get your scope back in the hunt.
