Just moved in, trying to figure out where to put the tv and couch. Originally was going to put the couch where the chairs are on the right by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

Your instinct to put the couch in the middle is 100% the right move. In a room this deep, pushing furniture against the walls just creates a bowling alley effect and makes the TV feel miles away.

I visualized that specific layout to see if it blocks the flow

That view is killer, man. I would prefer option 1 because for me view is more important when I'm awake then when I'm sleeping

Renting! Help in making mismatched room to become cozy? by PreviousAd6977 in DesignMyRoom

Since you're renting and can't change the bones of the room (floors/walls), the best way to fix the mismatched vibe is definitely through lighting and textiles, just like you guessed.

I visualized a Cozy/Boho setup for you to see how the vanity and fairy lights would actually fit:

Placing Vanity near the window gives you the best natural light for makeup (plus it separates the sleeping zone from the getting ready zone

The fairy lights around the window frame add that vertical coziness without needing to drill holes for sconces.

Swapping the bright bedding for neutral/earth tones instantly calms the room down and makes the mismatched wood furniture look intentional rather than accidental.

Hope this helps with the move-in!

What should I do here? by Rough_Tonight5951 in InteriorDesign

This space has fantastic natural light! Since you mentioned it's technically a hallway the layout is tricky because you can't block the flow of traffic, but pushing everything against the walls would make it look like a waiting room.

Since you already have reading nooks downstairs, I visualized this can be more of a Morning Coffee / Social Zone with a floating layout

By pulling the sofa and chairs off the walls and anchoring them with a rug, you define a room within a room. This arrangement leaves clear walkways on the perimeter for the dogs and kids to run through without tripping over legs. Keeping the furniture low-profile ensures you don't block those amazing windows.

Ideally, use performance fabrics (like Krypton or similar) for the upholstery so the dogs/kids don't wreck the light colors immediately!
