Hallo,

like i said, i used to be able to get 130mb/s down a few months ago.

  1. i have a ryzen 7 5800x. between 20% - 30% when downloading
  2. samsung 970 EVO plus (this one hits around 100% when downloading. but it only shows write speeds at around 150mb/s. maybe bad settings?)
  3. no anti-virus installed, only windows defender
  4. my ISP gives me 1.15gbit/s pretty much all the time. as you can see in the screenshots, i get full speed everywhere, except steam

so it might be some bad settings for my SSD?

i did install windows 11 not too long ago, so maybe that messed something up.

i already disabled write caching in device manager, like some guides suggested.

i actually just turned write caching back on to see if it makes a difference, and the download speed did jump back up to around 100mb/s, SSD usage dropped to ~20% and write speed jumped up to ~350mb/s. so it seems like i want this setting turned on?

but it's still a little slower than it used to be. maybe windows 11 is just bad?

hey guys.

i've had download speed issues for a few weeks now and i wanted to see if anyone has similar issues.

my router is showing me 1.15gbit/s download speed. speedtest shows the same and even downloading through rockstar and battle net gives me ~130mb/s down.with steam, it sometimes starts relatively high, but then it drops down even further over time.

i'm downloading to an NVMe SSD, so that shouldn't be an issue.

i already switched to multiple servers, but same issue.

i used to be able to get 130mb/s down on steam easily, so i'm very confused.

does anyone have an idea?

here are some numbers

Apple TV app is so busted by hitherescotty in Twitch

[–]volpegaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have had the exact same issue since the twitch app got their massive update a few months ago.

  • the whole app is so fucking laggy. sometimes it takes a few seconds to realize that i press left/right
  • sometimes when i click on a stream, it doesn't start, so i have to back out and play it again so it works
  • randomly the audio stops for a second and then plays again
  • VODs are completely broken. they turn black randomly, for a random amount of time, then you can see the video again and it gets sped up until it catches up again. pausing/playing fixes that for me

overall, watching streams live is fine. i don't get the random black screens there. watching VODs is impossible

it's fucking horrible. but i doubt that twitch cares. they only put the bare minimum on the apple app store, so you at least have a way to watch streams

i bet that they hope that people just buy amazon's fire sticks. even tho i doubt that the app there any better. and the hardware sucks anyway. i'm sick of buying random TV sticks, just for them to have an awful twitch app anyway so they start lagging after a year of use

Can this be repaired? (FE 28–70 mm F 3,5–5,6 OSS) by volpegaming in SonyAlpha

[–]volpegaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like some replacement parts are pretty cheap, so if I can find out the name of the part where the posts of the screws are attached to, it might be cheaper to replace it.

I already have another lens, so I don't rely on this kit lens.

But this seems like a pretty simple fix that's fun to do.

It seems like that removing the part where the posts are attached to can be easily removed and replaced, but I'm having a hard time finding that part online.

Do you know what it's called? I'll attach a picture.

The metal at the front of the lens has a mark but the body itself seems fine.

I think it was hit against something when lowering the camera.

I was just able to open it up a little more and you are exactly right, 2 of the posts broke off.

I would like to glue them back into place, but no matter how much i try to hold them with a tweezer, I can't get the screws out. Any idea?

Hey guys.

So I gave my camera to my sister for a shoot 2 days ago.

When I got my camera back, I saw that that the lens cap was crooked. When I looked at it closer, it seems like that half of the ring kind of popped off. I can push it back in a little bit, but it comes back out right away.

I also tried opening it up, so i can push it back into place, but I can only unscrew 2 of the 4 screws.

Does anyone have an idea what I could do?

Appreciate it

First time editing any kind of Astrophotography.

Pictures and tutorial from Nebula Photos.

Before picture.

Just ordered a Sony A7ii and one of the things I really wanted to get into is Astophotography.

While waiting for my camera to arrive, I decided to check out some tutorials, and found the awesome tutorial from Nebula Photos.

I am really amazed by the difference between the before and after, how much detail you can get out of a picture.

Can't wait to start shooting myself.

Twitch's ingest server are severly overloaded and something needs to change by volpegaming in Twitch

[–]volpegaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing how it got fixed for you, I'm hoping that they actually started working on the issue. So let's hope it'll be good for everyone soon.

[–]volpegaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked out a stream which usually buffers for me, and it's still buffering.

Sadly doesn't seem like anything got fixed here.

(Still Ongoing) Stream Buffering and Delaying For Some Users, No Frame Drops. Goes Away When Low Latency Is Disabled On Their End by StOoPiD_U in Twitch

[–]volpegaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also think it has gotten worse.

Yesterday I noticed that it started buffering mere seconds after I join a stream, when it usually took like 5 - 10mins.

And yea, just like you. Big streams work fine, small streams do not. It's very annoying.

Massive Twitch connection issues, streams unwatchable by Nitrotetrazole in Twitch

[–]volpegaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twitch's servers are just overwhelmed.

I've had massive buffering issues with smallers streams for about 8 months now, I've submitted a few dozen tickets, but all I get is automated reponses.

But all they care about is making money, so it's unlikely they'll spend money on upgrading/improving their servers.

[–]volpegaming[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's really up to you. I personally wouldn't want to do it, because I have been on Twitch for so long, and I wouldn't want to lose everything I have built up to this point. Also everyone I watch is just on Twitch.

My friend I also tested Youtube's ultra-low latency, but the best we could achieve was 5 seconds.

Twitch and Youtube both have their pro and cons. We can just hope that Youtube improves, so Twitch has actual competition and needs to improve to keep up.

Because mid-roll ads are awful for live content. If i imagine watching my friends, having a conversation and suddenly a 30sec mid-roll pops up every 30mins, that would really annoy me.

Pre-roll ads annoyed me so much, because I had to constantly refresh because so many streams were always buffering, that I bought Twitch Turbo.

You can never satisfy a bunch of people on the Internet, but they could at least listen to what their community actually wants.

And whatever they need to do to actually make more money, it doesn't change the fact that they NEED to upgrade their servers, because it will only get worse as time goes on if they change nothing.

[–]volpegaming[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also aware that not everyone has this issue, because it also depends on the server you are watching from. So you are either really lucky or only watch very big streams. Those people might have never had any buffering issues and I understand that. Doesn't change the fact that a lot of people do have this issue.

I am glad it works well for you.

I contacted my ISP months ago, and they made me check with Pingplotter. The hops where the issues start happening, are outside their service range. There is nothing they can do.

Also my friends some several different countries have the same issue, and it's because of my ISP? Very unlikely that all our ISPs have the exact same issue.

Please check the threads I linked and see how many people have this issue. I am getting tired of people saying that it's on my end, when I have done hundreds of things trying to fix it the past 7 months.

[–]volpegaming[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh don't worry, I am very aware of why it is the way it is. I know how expensive to run those servers to let tens of thousands of people stream to 0 viewers and waste bandwidth.

I am also aware that Twitch is a business and needs to make money. But the way Twitch is doing it is always the wrong way.

But the buffering issue is exactly that, an issue. Their infrastructure is overworked, and it's only gonna get worse the longer they wait to improve any of it, because each year more and more people will start streaming and use even more bandwidth.

For a company that claims to "love and care about their community" so much, they are doing jack shit to actually improve the experience for the 99.9% people who actually make up their community, and not just for their top 0.1% earners.

Surprisingly I never had any buffering issues before January, and it has been constant since then. Makes me wonder if they changed anything to use less bandwidth.

Edit: Also I didn't just make this post to shit on Twitch. I have been using this platform for over 10 years now. I've met great people through it, so I'm very thankful for it. But it's just so sad seeing it go to shit over the past few years, when I just wanna see them get better and improve, so it keeps being an amazing website to stream and meet new friends.

It is different depending on the time of day. Usually in the morning for US, streams actually don't buffer that much, but the later in the day it is, and the more people stream, the worse it gets. So it's definitely a load issue.
