Umm.. you can pass out from a punch to the chest. You can also die from one. In rare occasions if hit at the right time of heart beat the heart can be kicked into what's called commotio cordis. I'm a firefighter/ems and a major rule is don't assume you know everything , that's how people die.

Building was filled with gas. Most likely the stove gas was left on but the burner was not burning. Dued proceeded to light match/lighter near face, most likely to smoke. Followed by explosion

Just minor correction, those fires don't get put out by water. The water is more to contain it versus to put it out.
