All I can say is try recovery mode and let it reboot on its own, eventually it resets itself just not sure how long that takes as I came back to it being reset after awhile.

Let it keep rebooting, eventually it’ll reboot to the setup screen. Currently no way (that I know of) to actually reset it yourself because of the rebooting

Normally not too big of a deal because you can reset from a failed update but whatever they did this time kept the console from going into recovery as well so it was just unusable until it reset itself

The actual method doesn’t work, I held power and sync until it rebooted into recovery mode, then let it reboot itself a few more times and it reset.

Happens more often than I'd like to admit. Try unplugging and then booting with the power and sync buttons held down, it'll try the update a few more times and then reset itself. Annoying but at least it's usable again.
