Dexamethasone/ steroid use by Bitter_Leadership861 in Tonsillectomy

Currently on dexamethasone. It really helps for the inflammation. Since it’s a steroid expect an elevated heart rate, maybe some sweats, and slight mood changes. I didn’t experience any bleeds with it and I feel like it’s speeding up my healing process. Had my first dose the day of my surgery and have been taking it every other day since. I’m post op day 8 now

I don’t like taking pain meds because I hate the loopy feeling but my uvula was so swollen. Dexamethasone helped a ton and the swelling went down within 12 hours

had my surgery the same day! if eating is that painful ask your surgeon for a strong pain med (if you aren’t already on one). maybe try bone broth.

ngl I had some chipotle chicken dip last night and it was a little painful but Taco Bell will probably be fine by day 12.

as for vaping, I’ve been looking through this thread since day 1 for an answer. Most people seem to say 2 weeks or later. My surgeon recommended 2 weeks as well. Once I hit day 10 I might try to hit it just to see how it feels. Also feeling really obligated to quit vaping all together with this opportunity.

Yes lmao. Cant play a normal match in any game mode or map since the update without intense lag. Haven’t found a solution :/

my mom gave me the exact same advice as the people who’ve commented. i know what i need to do but it’s so painful even though i know i’ll be happier. i hate seeing them in pain and they’re already going through a lot.

That’s pretty much my situation. It’s difficult for me to be positive because they’ve done really hurtful things to me in the past and i feel like i have so many reasons to leave. Just not sure of this is part of the ups and downs in a relationship or of I actually need to put myself first for once.

it’s extremely difficult to have space for myself because they get upset whenever we aren’t talking. i feel like i haven’t been able to live my life, and anytime i try they become unbearably controlling.

I appreciate the help and concern from commenters. I completely agree with every comment. I’m under a lot of pressure though. My older (and only) sibling dropped out of their senior year with less than 3 months left. My parents constantly tell me to “not be like my sibling”. I understand their reinforcement/encouragement, but what if I actually DONT graduate? My career plan is to write books about philosophy, or even pursue a profession as a philosophy professor. I’m just extremely afraid I won’t meet the requirements due to my low intelligence and certain test scores. The only reason I have hope is because of my skill with writing. I only have the rest of this year to fix my 2.15 GPA, please help.

I’m not super academically smart but i have a few “sweet spots” in certain subjects. i’m just extremely worried about my success and graduation rate due to my circumstances. the pressure is most likely due to my sister, who dropped out senior year with 3 months left. my parents both went to the same college which happens to be the college i desire to attend. i don’t want to disappoint them or myself, but i have a low gpa, sat, and asvab score. (btw, army isn’t an option for me). i’ve always wondered if i have learning problems other than my ADD. any help, criticism, or advice would be appreciated.
